When I got frustrated about my lack of ability to keep a Tarot journal, I really didn't expect the answers I received to make my life better in any area other than keeping a Tarot journal. Instead, the answers have been floating around in my head for days and I've confronted issues such as: Am I too much of a perfectionist? Am I too hard on myself and others (my husband says that I am!)? Is it possible that I have Attention Deficit Disorder?
After examining these things and all the suggestions about journaling, I actually started journaling. Not what I thought of as journaling. I guess I thought journals were lovely bound books that someone can find in an attic someday and be impressed by. I grabbed a cheap spiral notebook (I bought 100 of them for $10 during last August's back-to-school sales!) and just started jotting down anything and carrying it anywhere. Everything from a quote from a book I'm reading to a reminder to buy toilet paper.
You won't believe this part: I feel like I've found three extra hours each day! I'm getting more done than I could have imagined and for the first time in years I don't feel like I'm walking around with half of my brain missing. I've taken classes on how to use my Franklin Planner, and the system is just fine but it never worked for me. I thought I was just the world biggest scatterbrain. Now I see that I need all my thoughts in one spot (not organized by section, not in separate places, and I definitely need seven or eight pages per day, not one). I'm like a new person.
Thanks. :)

By the way, I've recorded Tarot readings in my notebook too. :)

I think that's neat! It's like a real snapshot of your life at this time, grocery lists and all! I have a friend who keeps a journal just like that. She has odd bits of info jumbled in each one and she carries it around with her constantly. It's just like yours, a small spiral notebook. No one else but her could probably make heads or tails out of it, but that's ok because it's not FOR anyone else. It really helps her and it looks like this is really helping you, too.

Yay for a fabulous new discovery! When the door opens, isn't the new space amazing!!
I have journaled for years just in the way you're doing it--one cheap notebook after another (30 years of them) crammed with stuff I think along the way. I say that when I'm in the nursing home and don't remember who I am, I'll have great stuff to read :)
Congratulations on finding a new tool!

Now That's a wonderful way to journal.. Color me jealous.. :)
I'd better be off to find some notebooks too. I have a few already scattered about at home but they're too stuffy and large to carry around.
*reminds self to keep it simple and accessible or it'll never get done*

Deana Congratulations. What a great way to organise yourself. As Mercyme said it's like a snapshot of your life at this point in time. Congrats for finding something the suits you so well.
