Hi all,
Still new to the Tarot and enjoying the journey. I do tend to hit a wall over and over again in readings....
Let's say I do a daily reading of:
1 - Energy of the Day
2 - Factors behind that Energy
3 - Advice
Draw 1 and 2 I can handle well, it's the Advice where I stumble. For example, the other day I received as Advice the 3 of Pentacles Reversed. What action does that suggest? It's tough for me to translate a card into a suggestion, especially in an advice situation.
Also, today I received the following cards for my daily reading:
1 - Queen of Swords
2 - Knight of Swords
3 - Wheel of Fortune R
I think I can handle reading 1 and 2 but how am I supposed to interpret the Wheel of Fortune R as advice? Essentially it means bad luck so I'm stumped how to translate that into a suggestion.
So all of this boils down to: How can I turn the energy of a card into advice?
Thanks!

Here is my take.
Q of swords - you need to be honest, even brutally so.
Knight of Swords - You need to change your thinking on some matter.
Wheel - can be about change and moving on or forward. The reversal would say to wait, or delay the change until you have honestly assessed what is going on.
Hope this helps.

I used to ask the same question, and still do from time to time. I finally decided that I would DO what the event on the card was. Majors are metaphorical, so you can't think average things because they are larger than life per se.
3 of pentacles I would say practice good showmanship, work diligently, work as if others are watching you, and take pride in your work.
Wheel of fortune reversed is a different story, for me at least. Things are falling out of order and cycles so planning ahead is needed. It is the card of jupiter, so don't plan on an easy way out and you will have to make decisions for yourself. This also leads on to justice, (11 for me) so i think make a just decision. Slowing down and checking your actions would be my advice to the querent (along with what else i said also).
*remember you can't boil a card down to a single word, it is a theme and many words come from a theme*

Swords are Words - someone has been running around in very knight like fashion, speaking their mind or not taking much note of others feelings. There maybe gossip, slander or someone is being tactless and rude.
Hence, the more diplomatic Queen is called into action. Yes, there maybe a need for truth but watch what you are saying and to whom. Find a way of saying what you need without treading on other's toes. There are ways of getting what you want or putting your point across without angering people.
In light of your card positions and meanings: The Queen of Swords is a woman who wants to speak the truth or be honest.
The Knight is the way she is going about it: not the most tactful of people.
Advice: You reap what you sow. What you are saying now will have future consequences - be mindful. If you don't heed this advice you'll see Justice come into play ie the effects of what you are doing now have taken root and you are seeing the consequences...

In the Wheel reversed, the wheel is stuck - no longer turning. It is round, its natural movement is to move. When something blocks it (reversals show blockages of energy), it stops.
The first thing you do when something is stuck is to acknowledge it. Don't try and fix it before you know what is stuck, where and why. That is probably your advice: find and acknowledge the blockage - feel it. Then in subsequent days, the advice might be about how you can move forward, start to get that Wheel turning again.
There could be a good reason why the brakes are on.

Agree on the Janina Renee book; it's a wonderful springboard for advice readings.

For those of you who often use an 'advice' position in a spread, I'd like to recommend a book - 'Tarot your everyday guide' by Janina Renee http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1567185657/aeclectictaro-21/
It's specifically aimed at advice readings and it's excellent.

You can always use another spread or make your own.
There are lots three card spreads around. This is one from Burger & Fiebig's Complete Book of Tarot Spreads
3........2.........1
1. This is what is important
2. This is how it will evolve
3. This what you will bring to it.
Have fun :)

Does Janina Renee's book deal with reversed cards and their advice?
Hi Astroltina,
Janina Renee's book gives a very brief reversed meaning for each card.
I find that reversed meanings (and upright ones for that matter) aren't set in stone anyway though. The book is very good.
