Welcome to the newcomers! It's so lovely to see new people jumpping on the bandwagon, and great to see old faces "renewing their vows", as it were

Keavy - Hi, train buddy! I'm envious of your choice of decks - mind you, I have or have had half of them, so there's no reason to be envious, is there
? Good luck choosing! (NJ, NJ!!!

Getting to the point: How are the professional readers (if any, but surely there are some) who will be in this study handle the professional readings they will do? Are you going to use just the one deck you pick or will work readings essentially be different?
I don't want to limit my clients into just one deck (I provide a choice) and I think my readings would suffer if I use a deck I am unfamiliar or new at reading.
Hey, Allan
Nice to have you! Again, I'm not professional, but Promise's comments are very thought-provoking. I understand your apprehension, and I think it would go a long way to alleviating your concerns if you choose, as Promise said, a deck that you're already connecting with, rather than a completely new one (if I tried to read for someone with the Thoth, I believe I'd go mad
). The IDS experience is about deepening your connection to a deck to make you a better reader, not a worse one! There might be some teething problems, but I think you'll be fine before too long!

I'm powering ahead, still
. Very happy with the way things have been going. I've been spending some serious time on the Sixes, and for some reason they've really resonated with me. As afrosaxon would attest, I've been feeling torn lately, and the Wheel of Change Sixes are about that feeling. So I've finished journalling the cards, and after I got through them, I was still so caught up in the awesome power of this ambivalence, so I went back to Genetti's Tarot Tree and explored the Sixth Level of it.
She has organised the Major Arcana into a system that looks nothing like the Fool's Journey, but nonetheless follows a very plausible system. It forms a triangle, with the Fool outside it and yet everywhere in it, as befits him. The cards become more and more specialised as one progresses down the Levels. The Sixth Level is about one's experience of life, and two different approaches to life. I had an awesome time delving into her discussion of that, and developing her comments through my own journalling process. I want to go back to the Fives now, and work with them in that context, although I don't know that it will work quite as well.
I also designed a spread inspired by the Six-motif, and I'll try it out tonight, tweak it if necessary, and post it tomorrow. I think it will be great. It's got a great atmosphere, if that makes any sense at all.
Anyway, having a great time with you all!
