The Fool, Hermit and High Priestess (split from High Priestess & the 9 of pentacles...)

Fulgour

Did you ever wonder what The Fool had in that bag,
or what The Hermit was so patiently awaiting there?

The High Priestess is the only one who really knows,
her and The Hermit's dog, sent along after The Fool.

I have my own ideas on this...saved for a rainy day.

I'd like to hear about that, do tell :))

It's easy enough to begin, with The High Priestess
as the Moon, but I read the cards as Aleph = One,
and that makes The Hermit "Leo" ~no 8 and 11 flip
either, since it isn't necessary to fix any mistakes
by making new ones...I mean, if Aleph = Zero then
when you get to VIII Justice you have Leo and at
XI Strength it's Libra, and that was fixed by Waite.

Anyway, with IX The Hermit as Letter 9 he's Leo,
and if we can agree on that (for this explanation)
I can continue my tale of what's in The Fool's bag.

a riddle, wrapped in an enigma, shrouded in mystery

Now of all these, we only want to talk here about
The Hermit and The Fool ~ and what's in the bag.
Have you ever heard of the ancient Mesopotamian
planetary exaltations? I have discussed them with
many noted astrologers, and the one thing known
is that nobody today is sure of their true meaning.

Kind of like with the lost history of The Tarot:
~ a riddle, wrapped in an enigma, shrouded in mystery

Moon in Taurus (The High Priestess and The Lovers)
Venus in Pisces (The Empress and The Sun)
Mars in Capricorn (The Emperor and The Tower)
Mercury in Virgo (Strength and The Wheel of Fortune)
Sun in Aries (The Star and The Hierophant)
Jupiter in Cancer (Judgement and Justice)
Saturn in Libra (The Fool and The Hanged Man)
N.Node in Gemini (The Chariot)
S.Node in Sagittarius (The Devil)

3 Signs have NO designated Exaltation:

Leo (IX The Hermit)
Scorpio (XIV Temperance)
Aquarius (XVIII The Moon)

The Moon in Taurus (Earth) is the only Fixed Sign
given an exaltation by the ancient Mesopotamians.
That is a big clue pointing right at Fire, Water, Air:

Letter 21 is "Shin" and Fire: XXI The World
Letter 13 is "Mem" and Water: XIII Death
Letter 1 is "Aleph" and Air: I The Magician

Now of all these, we only want to talk here about
The Hermit and The Fool ~ and what's in the bag.

If you notice on XVII The Star there are 8 stars,
one for each of the planets ~ and one for Earth.
We're being shown a "view" from a long ways...
The only reason that The Golden Dawn made Aleph=Zero
was because they wanted The Magician to have a planet
which for them was Mercury ~ that whole "Thoth" thing.

Aleph as The Fool put planetary letter 2 in position one,
but Aleph as One moves everything BACK one position~
since putting Zero 'first' moved all the 22 letters by one,
including the letters for the Seven traditional planets...

Just like there are 12 letters for each of the Signs,
there's 7 letters that have planets assigned them.
Here without any magickal kabbalah (...or folderol)
are The 7 Planets matched directly to their letters:

Planets According to Distance from the Earth
in Kilometres

Moon (letter 2 "Beth" The High Priestess)
384,404

Venus (letter 3 "Gimmel" The Empress)
38,050,900 minimum (261,039,880 maximum)

Mars (letter 4 "Daleth" The Emperor)
54,510,620 minimum (401,355,980 maximum)

Mercury (letter 11 "Kaph" Strength)
77,269,900 minimum (221,920,880 maximum)

Sun (letter 17 "Pe" The Star)
147,085,800 minimum (152,104,980 maximum)

Jupiter (letter 20 "Resh" Judgement)
588,404,520 minimum (968,460,580 maximum)

Saturn (letter 22 "Taw" The Fool)

Of course these 7 Planetary "assignments" are mine,
made up by me, by simply looking out my window...

Here is a chart of my attributions: The Exaltation Tarot.

I like what you have to say here...

I will look for more posts from you as I am interested in this myself.

Not only what is in the sack, but what lays deep in each card. There are many approached as you clearly show.

What would appeal to me is if we travelled together the journey of the dog and the HighPriestess. Have you ever related Horary to tarot? Just one question that interests me in your way of thinking.

I have spent much time on this too, but found my visions were much more powerful that being, I sadly closed the chapter on Astrology for some time. Maybe you can re-kindle that approach again...

Fulgour

thanks rumple

About what's in The Fool's bag now... it helps to
keep in mind that The Fool is walking backwards!

I mean, he might be a fool~ but he's not crazy...

Fulgour

Once upon a time...

OK then, let's ask a very simple question today:
Why is The Hermit dressed up and outfitted like
The Man in the Moon? Lantern, Twig (his stick),
and Dog... oh wait: he's sent off his dog to find
The Fool~because The Fool has something that
he's supposed to return to The Hermit, given to
him by The High Priestess. What could it be? ;)

Fulgour

Would it help if I added that there has been some
hanky panky going on (sort of a power grab) by
The Hierophant (Aries, exaltation of the Sun) and
The Emperor (Mars, exalted in Capricorn)? Well...

Counting from One card XVI The Tower is Capricorn,
opposite VIII Justice (Cancer, exaltation of Jupiter,
and of course Jupiter is XX Judgment). Um, well...

XVI The Tower (La Maison Dieu) may be showing the
Emperor and Hierophant having a very bad hair day!

So why then would The High Priestess send The Fool
on an important errand to help The Hermit? Ah, well...
