Persian Tarot

Mind

Hi there

I am thinking about going on a spiritual tarot course where I live. I am told the deck we will use is the Persian Tarot. I have never heard of this and when I googled I read briefly (as my computer seems to have some kind of virus so I can't click into google results!) that it is not infact a tarot deck at all.

Could anyone enlighten me so perhaps I can decide whether this is a deck I want to pursue.

Thanks so much

Wow Aerin, thanks so much for that... It does sound interesting, but I'm not so sure it will help me learn more about the tarot and readings or just confuse me?! I've only ever used a Rider-Waite and am enjoying the more 'conventional' system.

Do you own oracle decks too?

Thanks for the links... they're a great help. What I'm interested to know is if there are any serious tarot enthusiasts who would use this deck in any way or just as a collectors piece?

Ah! I see the thread has been moved here.

I was going to say you might get a better response in Oracles.

I found this http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=53813&highlight=indira

and also this http://www.persianmemories.com/tarot/fal-ehafez.html

And finally http://www.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=20986&highlight=persian

The Indira one seems the most likely suspect? as the others don't seem easily available. They also don't seem to have much connection with Tarot but rather with forms of playing card divination.

Oh! Hang on - you are in Dubai. I know that the word "Tarot" is often used to cover all sorts of divination decks in some countries, and it seems from the second link that there are quite a few Persian decks around? So it may be a totally different deck that is being talked about. I would check if I were you.

Sounds fascinating. Based on poetry apparently.
