RwS : Strategic Stickers

R w S : Strategic Stickers

After thoughtfully meditating, I have now placed stickers over
some of the things that distract me on the Pamela Colman Smith
Tarot deck:

II The High Priestess: B & J are gone! I've placed
nice stickers over these silly things, of the Sun and Moon.

VIII Strength: "VIII" is covered with a little Yin Yang dot.
XI Justice: same as "VIII" ~ it helps to not see this stuff.

0 The Fool: Now there's a little Gold Star over the zero,
and I really like it. Zero has its place, but it never fit for me.

I am just sooo glad there aren't Golden Dawn attributions
all over this deck. As a Scorpio, it's nice knowing Temperance
is the correct correspondent, and not Death. "Death" is Mem,
letter 13, and Temperance is letter 14 Nun the 8th House.

Any thoughts....?

I love stickers, but I'm too afraid to put them on my deck! I think the choices you made are great, though, if they work for you. I always wonder how changes like that will work in the long run (like peeling edges, stuff like that). I'd like to add some artistic changes to my deck, but I'm even too afraid to take a sharpie marker to it! Even though I know I could just go and get a replacement, since the Universal RW is so popular; it's not like I'd never find another if I messed it up.

The stickers I have are good quality, and removeable.
You could experiment, and try putting some on one of the
dedication cards. Altogether, I just used 5 stickers on 4 cards,
and being an easy-going shuffler, I haven't yet had snags.

The Universal Smith has good lamination, so that's Ok.

Do the stickers not make these cards stand out from the rest of the deck? I mean literally, in a 3 dimensional way.
I've heard of people using a magic marker to get rid of keywords and I could see myself doing that if I found a deck and I just had to get rid of the keywords but I can't imagine using stickers.

Love

...I dunno. If there were stickers on every card, maybe
they'd bulge. No problem like that has come up for me.
I'm only using good mylar type rub downs, that pull off
from a card surface. Plain paper would be permanaent.

For myself, this was a personal choice, and I'm happy.

Hello Ontario!

From the package the stickers I'm using come in:

Sandylion Sticker Designs
Markham, Ontario

They have tons of them at the local Hobby stores.
I've used 'em for years and just thought for the cards,
why not?

I think it a great idea, in fact I'm going to try it for some of the cards I have trouble remembering. The sticker would be the proverbial "string tied around my finger'" it will start the sparks flying so I can be like hey, I put that there so I would remember. . . Thanks for sharing your idea!

Yes.

Firstly, there is no such thing as a "Pamela Colman Smith Tarot deck". She drew and coloured a deck that was conceived by AE Waite, who supplied the symbolism for the cards. That is why it is called the Waite-Smith, or Rider Waite Smith deck.

Unless you have some evidence to support this weird contention that Pixie Smith was responsible for the creation of the deck, and that Waite was some kind of fraud, you really should stop misleading people.

Do you have any evidence?

If you have, then lay it out and we can debate it. If the evidence is strong enough, I am always willing to amend my views.

You must have more stickers than original deck showing. This deck is rife with Golden Dawn attributions and symbolism.

"A picture is worth a thousand words," and we have 78.

If my opinions disagree with yours, continue to reject them.

Why don't you like the VIII and XI? any particular reason? do you use other decks where they are reversed?

Otherwise, I like your way of personalizing a deck!
