~ Your personal version of the Celtic Cross

Hey Aeclecticans,

To celebrate this new section I thought I would be the first to post with the question:

What is your personal favourite or modified version of the Celtic Cross?

This is the one I always use. I modified it to suit me but I have since seen very similay versions around.

the first guy who read a c/c laid it out in a different order and I guess I imprinted on it! Most of the meanings are derived from Joan Bunning.

...............................10
.............6.................9
....2.....3/4......5.........8
.............1.................7

1> unconscious
2> past influence, what has founded the situation, possibly what is waning
3/4> central issue, hub (often 2/5 and 1/6 form an axis, or 1 2 5 6 will "turn" around 3/4)
5> incoming influence, immediate future
6> conscious mind
7> self perception, how you feel
8> external environment, persona
9> wild card, advice, what should be integrated, what has been overlooked
10> long term outcome!

It is *so* difficult to be good and make notes on the computer when you have a cable connection.... <must set firewall so I can't access the net!>.......

Well I do it a little different (if I do this spread at all, that is, LOL):

...............................10
.............3.................9
....5.....1/2......6.........8
.............4.................7

1> where and how you find yourself at this point in time.
2> What influences are around this, positive or negative
3> What is the goal in this matter, what crowns you
4> Energies/influences of the last few years
5> Energies/influences of the last six months
6> What is coming right at ya
7> your doorway from the past to the future/ how to face/deal with it
8> Home/People that are around you
9> Hopes and fears/ scoring a goal or a home goal
10> How it may all pan out, with 2 or 3 clarification cards.

I don't really like the CC, its just too abstract.

But there you go, my tuppence ha'penny worth

ok..heres mine

Hi all,

This is what I use:

3 10

5......1/2......6........ 9
4 8
7

1/2 ...who you are and where you are in your life right now
3 ... your consious what your are thinking superficial
4 ... your subconsious..what is brewing deep inside
5 ... you past (what is affecting the issue)
6 ... your immediate future..(weeks)
7 ... your distant future (months)
8 .. how the people arond you will react and be affected by the upcoming changes
9 .. your guidance..PAY ATTENTION TO THIS CARD
10 .. your final outcome the overall theme setter

This spread always works well for long discussion readings (for me that's only about 45 min. tops..)

Blessings and thanks for the ideas

CJ

So correct me if I'm wrong... from what I'm seeing here y'all don't use a "significator" card (a card purposely selected to represent the querrent) in these CC spreads?

I do want to thank you all for these... I think it's really time for me to reexamine my CC spread (from a book :| ). You've given me some really great ideas for revamping this spread.

Jade's version

I've taken to calling it the shield and scyth cause when i started doint it i didn't realize it was 'ok' to change a spread. At any rate...

....................7

.........4.............9
..5..(2)1..6....10
.........3

Wow, that's awfully hard to draw.

1)Querent/Situation, question, etc.
2)Crossed by. Usually the defining factor of (1). Something hindering or aiding (two sides of the same thing)
3) Based on. This is the foundation, the history, the reason
4)Crowned by. This is often what the querent thinks is the reason, or the secondary more aparent reason
5)Backed by. This is the motivation, the drive, and again the history
6)Forwarded by. Where things appear to be going or were intended to head

7,8,9) Future, what will happen, what to expect, etc. I usually read thim as a time line 7 being soonest and 9 being furthest away.

10) Sometimes this one I don't turn, if I don't feel it's necessary. This is the summation, the finale if you will. It is mostly the future, but also some of the present.

I tweaked mine a couple of ways beyond the norm, before dropping it completely for the time being.

I don't use significators. Blech.

For some readings, I added 4 additional cards, as clarifiers, along the bottom of the spread, then the 4 up the side, to total 14 cards used.

Also, I often read cards 3 and 5 as karmic path cards -- what you came into this life to do, and what you can expect to attain if you achieve it.

I almost always read the "up the side" cards -- usually 7-10, but sometimes 11-14 -- as :

-- What others think about the situation
-- What you think about the situation
-- What the Cards think about the situation
-- Final word, or potential outcome

My purpose in switching the standard meanings for these 4 cards was to emphasize a progression from outer viewpoints (Others, Family) to inner viewpoints (Self, Cards).

But I never found a way to properly nail down what card 2 REALLY meant to me, so eventually I've kinda abandoned the spread. There are so so SO many others that I find more helpful.

Here's my version of the Celtic Cross:

..........5..........10
....4..1/2..6......9
..........3...........8
.......................7

3 & 4 are read together as the Past.
1 & 2 are read together as the Present.
5 & 6 are read together as the Future.
7 is the view from inside the problem/situation (Querent's Point of View)
8 is the view from outside the problem/situation.
9 is Hopes and Fears
10 is the Final Outcome

Sometimes I will use a significator, but it's external to the reading.
