What is this?

Tarotphelia

Might be amethyst or a dark purple fluorite , but it's very hard to tell.

willowfox

Hard to see the colour as your picture has come out small.

Pretty, whatever it is.

The picture/scan is life sized. I'll try to get a better picture tonight. It's opaque, really opaque, I've never seen an amethyst that wasn't at least partially translucent.

Traveller~ that is a really pretty crystal. :)

Do you think maybe it has been manipulated or enhanced, maybe dyed?

It does look like the sugilite in the pictures that Bodran posted... it's a lovely colour, whatever it is.

Thank you :)
I don't think it is dyed because the color isn't uniform throughout, but I don't know for sure. The colors range from almost black to maroon to purple to lavendar. There are a couple of specks of translucent lavendar through the point... barely detectable.

My guess would be sugilite or charoite.
Some various shades of sugilite cabs:

I wondered about the sugilite but it is supposed to be rare? What's the difference between the light lavendar pieces and the dark purple/magenta ones? Is the lavendar the gem quality? Mine looks more like the sugilite than the charoite, it's not so swirly or blue.
