opalite

can anyone tell me anything about opalite?
I have a beautiful opalite angel, but I am having trouble finding anything about the stone in books or on the internet.

LadyofDreams, most I could find at the moment is that Opalite is is an unusual type of jasper with swirling shades of purple, lavender, white and black. It also is known as Tiffany Stone. If I can find more I'll post again. Hope this helps some.

the tiffany stone is pretty as well, but not what I have I can find nothing about the opalite that I have apart from pictures

you are probably having trouble finding info because opalite is a term used to describe many different things. Ive seen it in reference to a gemstone that is mined, and also as a term to describe a synthetic or manufactured substance.

"Opalite has many connotations. It may refer to:
- an impure form of Opal
- Myrickite
- black glass
- a yellow-green Common Opal with black inclusions
- an imitation Opal produced from resin"

This site shows beads in the same material & has a "syn." (synthetic)designation next to it.

i knew that it was synthetic, but i also know that it has some healing properties etc, but i cant find any of them written down. I wondered if anyone knew them. thanks to everyone who has tried to help me and thanks TygrEyes for the link

Just to add one more piece of confusion to the pot, so to speak, I bought an opalite bison figurine today and the fellow I bought it from said that opalite was glass that had been treated with lasers (he did not know how, exactly) to give it an opalescent or moonstone-like look.
