tarot art nouveau- the emperor IV

misfitknits

the vision of a ruler- an older gentleman, his hair whitened with age, signifies the many years he has gained experience on this earth. he wears a crown, a sign of his status as a ruler. the stern expression on his face seems to be fixed like stone. his furrowed brow showing his lack of sense of humor. all these characteristics put together show us a portrait of a man as structured and serious as they come. he lays down the law and expects all under him to obey and follow orders, he has a militaristic personality. as unbending as steel, once he's made up his mind, he will not waver from his choice.

in this depiction of the emperor, he has not grown soft with age. his chest is bare and it reveals to us his still well-defined musculature. this is a man that, despite his age, he is still prepared to fight for his kingdom- or family- and what he believes in.

as a fatherly figure, i see that he wouldn't be unapproachable, but he's not the warmest person, either. however, he probably makes a great listener and would give no nonsense, get-the-job-done advice! i wouldn't see him as the type of father that would help with very young children, unless it comes to discipline. he certainly would never get on the floor to wrestle, or play hide and seek, or imaginary tea party. he'd be far too busy with running things anyway. but once the children were older, he would be the perfect person to seek council from concerning things like problem solving and diplomacy.
