Lemniscates in the RWS...

Seafra

I'll be darned. There's a lemniscate on the left boot with that shoelace. Ms Coleman Smith has always been my hero but she went above and beyond here. Blows me away. Great eye Cdabs!

The Inimitable Ms. Colman-Smith

Hi Seafra!

Yeah...the "detail" came out with a magnifying glass. At first, I was like, "no way!..." then used the glass to confirm. Pamela was amazing, wasn't she? That's why I keep looking for details...

I'd like to discuss this card more, but not sure if this is the right thread. I'll give it a shot...

WHAT is that "thing" on top of the building, in the background, over this gent's left shoulder? http://learntarot.com/bigjpgs/pents04.jpg

I'm referring to the three most prominent/tall buildings. The left most one (shortest of the 3) has this thing on top of it...can't figure it out. Whatever it is looks like it's about to fall off the building.

What got me started on looking at the Four Of Pentacles more closely was watching the movie, "Constantine." It was a movie about good and evil and names were mentioned such as "The Spear Of Destiny" and "Mammon."

In the movie, Mammon is the Devil's son. I looked this name up and came across this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mammon

I then saw this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0d/Mammon.jpg

...which led me to look at the Four Of Pentacles...as there is a similarity of what is depicted in this card to what is pictured in Collin De Plancy's, "Dictionnaire Infernal" as the Demon Of Greed/Avarice (Demon #42; De Plancy lists 64 demons) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dictionnaire_Infernal

Anyway, the picture of Mammon sitting on a box (chest of money?)...holding onto his bags of money....feet on ground....hunched a little....looks like the guy in the Four Of Pentacles. Weird, huh?

Interesting stuff! Only have a moment to post but that picture of Mammon in Wiki from Collin de Plancy's Dictionnaire Infernal has the same pose as Mr Four Pent Merchant. The list of Demons includes the name Leonard. I will forever more refer to our gent as "Leonard." =D

Pixie Smith was fantastic burying hidden nuggets in her deck...:)

...hidden treasures

I have to say...I like my Radiant and Universal RWS decks, but the original RWS has that "hidden" stuff....and there's just no comparison.

In a sense, I feel like I'm missing something if I don't use my original deck now and then. AND...I feel like I'm being short-changed somewhat when I use my other decks since these "nuggets" have been left out.

Oh well...I knew I "had to have" the extra decks.

I just checked my Universal and Radiant decks....there is no "lemniscate" on the left boot-lace.
