Psychic Reality TV
Have you all seen this new psychic reality television shows? I don't watch much TV at all, but my mom has been talking about them lately. I googled it and I've come up with Phenomenon and America's Psychic Challenge. (See, that's how little TV I watch, I had to google it LOL) From what I understand, the shows basically pit psychics against each other with different challenges. I did see the previews for the one where the psychics had to find a person inside an abandoned house. Anyway, enough of my rambling. I was just wondering what you all thought of this concept? Personally, I am torn. On one hand, I am glad to see that psychics are getting some publicity. On the other hand, I am afraid that it will be bad publicity, as in, "Oh those people are so full of crap. Let's see which one can lie the best!" I am also a little leery that the people really aren't psychics, that they are just trying to make a buck. And of course, with any reality TV, I am worried that nobody is really respectful of the whole thing. I know that there was already a discussion about the Tarot readers on Wife Swap, but I think that this is different and I didn't want to hijack that thread. Thoughts? __________________ As a crystal in the night, so must we, in the darkness of the world, glow from within. |

Well, I haven't heard of those shows you are mentioning. I don't watch too much TV either. The shows I do watch, Ghost Whisperer, Medium, etc)I watch because it is interesting to see the methods that other psychics use and the the trials and tribulations that they go through with trying to figure out the messages they are receiving. While the shows aren't 100% based in reality, there is still enough there that I can relate to and possibly learn from. I would probably enjoy a psychic reality show but I imagine there is a lot of TV crap to wade through to get to the truth. I agree it's great that psychics and mediums are getting more exposure, but the fact that some of it may be bad publicity makes me wonder if it's all worth it. Maybe it will lead to the general public being able to determine who is real and who is not, meaining, who has good intentions and who is in it for the money, now that would be a good thing. Disa |

Lisa Williams?
Anyone catch Lisa Williams' weekly show? Some of the time she seems quite genuine, while other times a bit too staged: http://www.lisawilliamsmedium.com/ I imagine the nature and pressure of keeping this type of show (and the all-important ratings!) up must be tremendous. One must wonder how this effects the individual's abilities. __________________ 'Thine own light pours forth through the veil.' -from the Emerald Tablets, Hermes Trismegistus |

I haven't seen her show yet either. Hmm I may have to reconsider getting cable just for the Lifetime psychic shows eh? I did see a snippet or two of her in some previews, though-it isn't enough to tell whether she's the real deal. Disa |

Nope, haven't seen her show yet either. I suppose we'll just have to wait a while to see what effects these types of shows have on the public's view of psychics. __________________ As a crystal in the night, so must we, in the darkness of the world, glow from within. |

I did catch a show w/Lisa once, I think. I'm not sure if it was her show or if I caught her as a guest on another show, just can't recall. I was impressed with her though. the other show I've never heard of, but would love to catch it. What network is it on? I'll try to find it. |

I've always thought those reality shows are just too much. What are we supposed to believe? We all have already read and heard how much reality TV is actually scripted, edited and messed around with. It's not reality in any shape or form. I watched one of these a few weeks ago, it was silly. I don't have time to sit around trying to figuire out what's real, what was edited out and all the other junk. |

I am intrigued by the different decks used on the programmes on sky. I have had a reading but had too many texts I wasn't able to cancel as the phone and email option to cancel wasn't avialable on 2 shows...eek. It cost me a new sim card. Perhaps my own fault as I couldn't find the way of stopping this. yet I still watch the show and find it interesting. I can't seem to figure out how they are reading using the crystals with the tarot decks though. Im not sure as to what the method is and how it is learnt. Last edited by lunafae; 29-10-2007 at 02:34.
