missing three runes..Othel,Beorc,Sigel
Hi all, I am very new to runes, I have been back through all the old threads and found information on most of the runes, but I seem to be missing Othel, Beorc, and Sigel. Are these threads somewhere, can anyone help me, I found the rest of them very informative. help please. I would like to know more of the runes, I have had a sert for years but not used them properly yet. Thank you Dark Eyes. __________________ "As long as you are in a state of intense presence, you are free of thought. You are still, yet highly alert." ...The Power Of Now... Eckhart Tolle |

Runes were used extensively by the Tuetonic/Norse peoples. Being nomadic they took the runes with them to many lands – which had different indigenous languages. So the names of the runes are not universal – whereas the meanings are. Othel would be Othala Beorc, is Berkano. And Sigel…? Sowilo, or Sun. Most likely you will need to compare the shape with the textual dexcriptions. Sigel?…help me out on that one… |

Thankyou, thankyou, thankyou !! I have it now, I was getting confused with Ehwaz and Eihwaz, also yes, Sigel was Sowilo ! Beorc was Berkano ! Now I am on the path, I have to learn to put them together bit by bit. Amazing things the runes, quite different from the tarot. Any advice on getting to know the runes and their combined meanings would be great, there is a great wealth on the past postings, you are right, it is fabulous. my books are not nearly as helpful or as personal. Thankyou, regards Dark Eyes. __________________ "As long as you are in a state of intense presence, you are free of thought. You are still, yet highly alert." ...The Power Of Now... Eckhart Tolle |
