A question.... What am I seeing?

Hello...

I've always wanted to learn to scry. I've always found mirrors so mysterious! This is probobly the reason why I was so attracted to scrying in the first place. Ive been dabbling in this art for a few years off and on but the reason why I've never actually been able to become any good is because whenever I try I always end up seeing the exact same thing! Its probobly my eyes playing tricks on me but ive tried it using several differnt surfaces but I always see the same thing... BIRDS...or what I would like to think are birds. Of course they are only shadows but it looks almost as if they are gliding effortlessy through the black flapping there wings. Sometimes they appear to be spirialing down a tunnel but its always birds. Ive sat for about 30 minuetes just staring at these creatures just hoping maybe they would change to somthing else but they never do so I always end up giving up. Am I doing something wrong? Is there anyone here who is experienced in this area who might know what this means or how to get past this? I'm beginning to get very frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't think you are doing anything wrong from the sounds of things. Birds have long been considered messengers from the Gods/Spirits so perhaps there is something there.

Could be that a bird is a spirit helper of yours and wants to be seen/acknowledged?

Could be that the metaphor of 'bird' or 'flying' is relevant to you or to the question you posed when starting to scry?

Do any of these feel like they could fit?

I agree with Milfoil.

perhaps you need to keep on gazing and see if the birds show you anything. pay attention to where they are flying, and other scenes you may be seeing during their flight. all that can be important too--the birds could just be the messenger. but, don't give up! at least you are seeing the birds--and this is good.

As Milfoil mentions, the bird could be a spirit helper, so if you could try to identify the type of bird you are seeing, it may help. at least the color of the bird would even be helpful, I think.

In my opinion, when scrying you should also pay attention to any colors you may see, as colors are symbolic too. they can carry a great message for you as well. so continue on and see if you can determine colors, scenery and the type of bird you are seeing. also, if you see the birds again, why not ask them to give you another message?

Kaleidoscope?

I get a kaleidoscope (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaleidoscope) vibe from your description. Could the birds be forming some shape of significance for you to read?

I had no idea that birds were considered messengers. Thats really interesting. But whenever I try to scry, my question never really has anything to do with birds..most of the time I dont even have a question in mind.

To me these birds always remind me of a flock of seagulls...I think thats because I grew up on a farm and seagulls would always be in the fields eating bugs and the birds behave like the seagulls did in the fields. But I really hope seagulls aren't my spirit helper ...jk I cant be picky..
I've never considered looking for scenery, i've always been to focused on the birds. Ive never seen any other colors besides gray because thats the color of the birds, but maybe I just need to sit there a little bit longer and see if anything else develops.

well now, if seagulls are your totem animal, it would be pretty cool, really! seagulls are messengers from the heavens, God, your guides and spirits.
they are also messengers of the Celtic deities.

seagulls are great totems to have, as they help you see problems you encounter from all sides, so that you can easily fix any obstacle you encounter in life. The seagull is also a symbol for emotional healing.

seagulls are a symbolic totem for people who have a carefree nature about them and are always fair in all their dealings with others. They are also symbolic of great energy and a cunning mind.

perhaps you may want to explore that bird more to find out if they could be a totem for you, and if so, what message they are trying so hard to get across to you as you scry. also, perhaps, since they are messengers from God, heaven, your guide or the spirit world--you are being told that they do have a msg for you--and now, you only have to ask what it is to 'see' in again as you scry. worth a try, isn't it?

This is amazing information!..Thank you!..
This actually makes me appreciate seagulls a little bit more...I know nothing about the Celtic pantheon or totem animals but I will start doing some research to find out more...

I realize how crazy I sound by saying "I see BIRDS!" haha!..I've always been skeptical of things like this but since experiencing this firsthand..ive changed my opinion.

Are you using a regular mirror or a black backed mirror. It may make a difference as well.
