CLICK HERE --> High Priestess <-- CLICK HERE Crossed white and black crescents (above High Priestess head)= Represents movement toward perfection and a balance between dark, light influences / male, female energies / astral, metaphysical planes. The space in the middle of the two cresents is astral space. The Hebrew letter Beth is slightly smaller on the top than on the bottom. This shows the idea of being the same but not equal. And leads to “As above”; “So below”. To the dragons’ right: your left; there is a leafless tree. This tree is a Pomegranate. The Pomegranate represents Yang/Male/Mercury/Fire/Also known as the tree of knowledge. About the cauldron there are mushrooms. The Mushrooms represent Yin/Female/Moon/Water/Also used as a Drug: Ointment: Potion. This Yin and Yang represents that though everything changes, it all remains in constant balance. To her upper right (your left) the earth glows hovering above a darkened column; leads to the idea that divine knowledge remains hidden from most. Whereas common knowledge; is shared openly, and discussed. To her upper left (your right) Yin and yang hover above the lighted column indicating that though things are in constant motion; they remain balanced. This card is all about the three levels of existence must remain in perfect balance. The priestess herself holds a torah written in Runic writing, a white bracelet on her wrist indicates Hindu knowledge, the rainbow leaving her hand into the melting pot are the seven levels of initiation each of us must undergo eventually, the Cauldron is her link to witchcraft, you start to get the idea that she is knowledgeable in all beliefs. Upon her head we have the horns of Isis: While the crescent above her head indicates the Triple Crown Goddess. The folds of her wings are hidden secrets, and give you the other idea of protecting things or beings. The cauldron has four sides as a cube. You will also notice that the columns have distinct vines curling around and up them. Here the vines represent fertility, where the dark column with the vine in Egyptology represents the moon, and that indicates the God Osiris. The light column for sun in Egyptology with the vine signifies the Goddess Isis. And the Priestess is there daughter Isis. Ivy also equates to Life/Death/Renewal or Fertility. At the bottom of the card you have two facing crescents at the low left and right corners. This represents the full and new Moon also the goddess symbol. |
