I'm so glad I posted this question! These are amazing, guys, thank you. There are some here I had looked at before but forgotten about or otherwise not considered, and there are quite a few I'd never seen at all. So cool.Dang. I wish there was some kind of tarot library where I could go get decks off a shelf and play with them a while. (Doooooooooooon't we allllllllllllllllllllll) |

I like the Solleone a lot. This one is pretty awesome, too, but I bet it's impossible to find: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/nusantara/ Man. That really works for me. I'll have to dig some more.... Edit: On first googling, I found the artist's deviantart page.

I second whomever said the Archeon, Bohemian Gothic and I am a big fan of the Vargo and the Vertigo. There are lots of suggestions here: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/dark-gothic.shtml It goes to show how subjective definitions of decks are. As a feminist I find the Mary El offensive and I don't think the Nusantara is a dark deck. I would also say that the Deviant Moon is dark but I find it too repulsive

Have you expounded on this elsewhere? Don't want to derail this thread, but I'm a feminist and don't find the Mary El offensive, so I'd love to hear your analysis. |

Adding to the list: Cruel Thing, also one of my favorite "dark" decks that I don't find too disturbing. |

Wormwood is a dark deck that I find to be a fun sorta, campy victorian style deck. I don't find it disturbing at all. It reminds me of the b-horror movies. |

![]() As for Nusantara being dark, yeah, it's not gothic or negative or anything like that. But it's got a serious tone I like--a neutral sort of vibe. And the coloration is darker than all the very pastel decks I usually work with, so I guess it's an unusually literal answer to the original question. Last edited by Masa; 27-03-2012 at 05:27. |
