I'd say YES to your post. If 8 is the Strength is can be balancing inner and outer tension 7 Wands shows faith to overcome obstacles. Overcoming tension

Depending on the other cards you have in the spread (any swords?) Strength and the 7 could mean doing a "slow burn"; the guy in the 7 of Wands is on the defensive. |

i have to agree about the other guy doing a, "slow burn," on the defensive type thing. that i can see. no swords, though. i did initially get that same idea when i saw the two cards together. i thought, "anger," but subdued. thanks all! |

It could, alternately, mean having the strength to stand up for what you believe--or think/know is right even if everyone else disagrees and gangs up on you. OR, the opposite, the strength to listen to those who disagree and admit that you may be wrong; the strength not to let anger get the better of your judgement. The guy in the 7/Wands may be doing a slow burn, but he is up against a lot of people who are trying to shout him down, not let him have his say, or insisting that he's wrong. The question is, is his strength in standing up to them, against the odds, like the Maiden against the Lion, firm in her inner compassionate strength even though she is physically overpowered? Or does this singular man need to realize that, like the Lion, his roars and shouts and fury are not so true a showing of strength as being understanding and civilized? Which side is really presenting the weakness of "anger"--the defensive man or those trying to counter him? The other cards should tell you which--if not, pull out the two cards, ask the deck and set down a clarification card

I like all the above interps. One other that occurs to me: Having the self-assurance to set clear boundaries; assertively stopping people treating them like a 'doormat'. |
