A thought for you though: our choir once had a director who would sometimes tell us "Now we get to the difficult bit." And we would work very hard and try and get it right, but...

One week she was off sick and we had a stand in, who taught us a whole new movement. We did pretty well. It was easy.

The next week the regular director was back and we ran through it OK, and then she said "now back to that difficult bit in the middle" - and for the first time since we had learned that movement with the other guy - we COMPLETELY blew it.

Thinking of something as difficult often makes it so, IMHO.
lol what a wonderfull story it totally makes sence thanks just one question though did you ever get it right. thanks gregory.

And I agree with Gregory - excellent anecdote, by the way!

I always found the courts to be tricksy creatures, until I stopped bothering with them - kinda ignored them for a bit, and when I came back to them, they seemed much easier to read I stopped according them so much attention, and stopped thinking of them as being difficult, and it worked.
thanks for this i will look into this book

I can deal with Court cards. I find them easier then certain wishy washy Minors. Any court card is easier for me than cards like the two of wands, three of wands & 10 of pentacles.

The only Courts I really, really, totally "get" are the Thoth and the Victorian Romantic. With the others I try and usually get there (I think). With these two decks I don't feel as if I really have to try ; they feel so immediate.
hmmm its funny as i am considering buying a thoth deck i see so many people using it on exchanges, and people do say they are easier to relate to. Thanks allot you have made a decsion for me.

OH yes. OT - but she was a mate, and I told her about it and give her credit - she stopped referring to difficult bits.

Mary's book is indeed very good. But - just refuse to be afraid of courts. They are only cards

I am still new enough at tarot to consider myself a "newbie".. but

I have found that when I ignore the "gender" of the court cards, and focus instead on the characteristics of the person or event in question, it is much easier for me to read them.

Deciding if you are looking at a person's characteristics or an event, can be tricky, but often the question that was asked and the placement of the card, will make one or the other more or less obvious.
