I enjoyed doing this with the deck as well. It is interesting how the meanings differ slightly from RWS in ways that make them even more practical to read with, and then which ones differ quite a bit.

As interesting as that was it just didn't work well for me as a reading deck. With so much going on each card I couldn't really put the cards together. The deck creator is a real presence in this deck and I couldn't really come up with intuitive flashes about how they fit with my life.

They truly are larger than life cards (not just referring to their abnormal size lol). It is just that they go off on their own trip, telling a story of something else and evoking unwanted memories instead of sticking to the question I asked. I find that very distracting. As also the circus setting for wands, and the desert for the cups... That is just odd. Not to mention pregnant lady on Justice card, she bothers me a lot. This isn't a reading deck of mine either. I just love playing with the cards and admiring the grotesque yet pretty imagery on the cards They are a fascinating deck and set of characters, aren't they? Like Tom Tom? I find that working with those names and that LWB gives me a very narrow structure within which to work with... That is partly why I don't like them and can't use them much as a reading deck. People told me it isn't a reading deck, but just a pretty face but I went ahead and ordered it anyway....

I see what you mean, Girl Archer. It is like another world to visit and play and hang out with the people there.

Strange about the pregnant looking Justice, I hadn't noticed that.

The people in the Two of Cups always seemed strangely isolated from each other with their separate rubber suits, and yet they are joined in an important way. Many paradoxes in this deck.

The strangest deck on my wishlist is the Minotarot. Unfortunately, it is so rare and expensive that I doubt I'll ever get my hands on it. I love the eerie artwork and the minotaur theme! No one has ever commented on how it reads. No matter-- I want it regardless!

In a way, all Tarot decks seem strange to me, but the Etteillas prompt a strong attraction-repulsion mode. The images are often extremely beautiful and mysterious, but I don't even try to read with them. They absolutely must remain in my collection for their beauty, but lately I don't even look at them, because they try to suck me into their world, a world that I'm not sure I want to enter. I know, I know, I'm probably the strange one, not the cards. However, self-consciously weird or funky decks, such as Deviant Moon, merely turn me off, not so the Etteilla.

I know! For me, the 2/cups just comes off real kinky. I can't sense any love between the two like you said, not the RWS kind love at least.. Somehow, hippie chick Justice just does not do it for me.. That one, and the Deviant Moon Justice... The latter troubles me with the implication about the corrupt judge.. Does he look corrupt to you as well?

Only his fish....!
How about the Karma, for a weird Hippie deck? It's a bad sign when the fool is the sanest card in the pack...

Esoterically (and paradoxically), The Fool actually may be the sanest card in any Tarot deck. The everyday world is nuts, but The Fool goes his own way, true to himself, not heeding the everyday world's sanctions against being a noncomformist. The prototypical fool, Parsifal, attained the Holy Grail, whereas other non-fools failed.
