Spiritual group, London
I was thinking of starting a spiritual group in London, where all Londoners can meet up once or maybe twice a month and do meditations and healing together for our loved ones and for the Earth, and maybe even do some tarot, if time permits. Anyone interested? __________________ Sometimes our lives collide in the most bizarre ways. ~ Grimm~ |

I'll be up for this. What sort of venue do you have in mind? |

Hi Fianic, currently, I don't have any venue in mind. If only there are enough people interested, we can take it further.

Why not just try a meet up first and have a social that is about disccussions before moving to do healing, that will be easier to organise and you can still learn alot __________________ "I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. Sometimes you need to start small and it grows __________________ "I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word in reality. That is why right, temporarily defeated, is stronger than evil triumphant." Martin Luther King |

Hello ![]() I live in Ireland and have started to attend a spiritual group in the home of one of my friends...there is just 4 or 5 of us at the moment. We hope, if the numbers to increase, to open some kind of "school" where we give healing and have spiritual circles. In UK there are lots of spiritualist churches, arent there, but in Ireland, due to the catholic thing, they are rare You could start in someone's home and then see how it goes? We do meditation/visualisation and then talk to the spirits, its very interesting and amazing what comes through Good luck and enjoy!

The park is a good place to start/cafe?
I am up for this, I also agree that sometimes its ok to start small, sometimes it's for the best.. Everything starts with 0 fool/1 Ace.. two people can expand into three e.t.c, Think it would be good to meet and discuss and then see how it goes! While its warm we could meet at a park or coffee shop, an eaterie with booths! And maybe a venue would come into play naturally. |

It may depend on what you mean by 'spiritual'? People often have very different ideas as to what that means and what THEY want to do at a meeting. In the past I have found that open spiritual groups don't fare too well in the long run, there are just too many variables and expectations. Venues are expensive, especially in London, if people don't turn up, the organiser will end up paying the bill. Fine if you have the money and don't mind but still it does feel like a let down. Being specific about what is going to happen and what is expected of attendees will help everyone to feel secure. Good, strong leadership without being domineering (tall order sometimes). Many people expect to be lead and don't feel comfortable as an equal, I know, it sounds silly but honestly that's often what happens so someone usually has to be the facilitator, the charismatic, jump around and engage everyone, happy, experienced person who others look up to and feel safe around. Closed circles are often different - groups of like minded folk with a similar outlook, who are friends and trust oneanother implicitly - then you can dispense with a leader or facilitator because everyone 'gets it' and the circles can move in the direction they need to. Having some basic foundational concepts such as what is meant to be achieved by the group can help. Tasara Gen has written some great articles about circle and community building and although they are written around neo-shamanism, the basic concepts are the same no matter what spiritual hat you wear. http://tasara.wordpress.com/2011/09/...ritual-circle/ Good luck with the group. |
