this is also a protective stance, crossed arms or legs are akin to a "no admittance" sign, physically and psychologically speaking. protecting her emotions, mayhaps?

energetically speaking, it's supposed to protect your personal energy. try it sometime with an energy vampire, someone who just sucks the energy from you and you feel drained after being in a room with? don't change the rest of your interaction, just cross your arms and ankles. have done it. when they (consciously or otherwise) realize they aren't getting any energy, they get bored and leave. lol...

The Crab retreats into its shell, figuratively. Also the Crab's largest appendages (the pincers) often are positioned similarly to the Queens legs. This Queen's principal sign appears to be Cardinal Water.

The Queen of Swords (almost a side view of Trump XI) and the Queen of Pentacles (Goat's head on the throne) appear to be mainly Cardinal Air and Cardinal Earth, respectively. However, the Cardinality of the Queens doesn't seem to apply to the Queen of Wands, which has Leo (Fixed Fire) written all over it. It would be nice and neat if the Fire Queen were primarily a Ram, not a Lion, I think. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

Anyone else notice that the Queen of Cups foot looks blue, and almost like a fish fin? Her other foot seems to be missing, or hidden.

Welcome to Aeclectic, Aki! Which version of the deck are you talking about?

Do you think that the blue foot might suggest the tail fin of a mermaid? It very well might. She is Queen of Sylphs and Undines (Water Elementals). Undines are often portrayed as mermaids. Sometimes they can shapeshift between mermaid and human form.

That's what I was thinking, since all the water and fish associations are there. It wouldn't be too far a stretch.

Thanks for the welcome. I only noticed it on the cards posted on Sacred Texts, but I have a 1971 RWS, and a much more recent, US Games print. The one in the blue box, you know the one, I bet. I'll check shortly.

ETA: The 1971 and recent print had blue feet.

It looks to me like the Queen of Wands has six cats on the card. Well, maybe not cats exactly, but six animals that could pass as cats. One's at her feet, four are on the throne, and one she's wearing. That's a whole lotta kitty.

Yes, lots of cats. It screams (roars) "Leo the Lion" to me. This is reinforced by the sunflowers. The Sun is the ruling "planet" of Leo.

Yeeees, very Leo. Definitely. The Q of W has that ego-focused kind of personality all the way.

I'm so sorry if I'm jumping in with a dumb question...but which Robert Place book is referred to in the original post? I looked him up and found at least 3 books. Thanks so much, and apologies if it's a dumb question!
