Question about cards..changed from reading to reading?

About a month ago, I had a reading about a career question (ie whether I will change jobs), and the reader said a Page of Pentacles came up, with a Knight of Pentacles in the future...I was told that this is a good sign since a Page to a Knight is a progression....and that this is a big jump for someone, something exciting, more money, job title, position etc...so I was happy.

But 2 days ago, I had another reading with the same reader, where the cards that came up were Ace of Cups that ended in a Sun Inverted....and this time, the reader said that it is like an opening, where you will get something which may not be exactly what you want, but what you need....I was told that it may not come with a great deal of money, but it is the right step to go to the next level....it was emphasized that I would pick up the skills to go to the position that I eventually desire etc...

Naturally, I am a bit confused on the somewhat different reading in a space of a month....the reader has been very good in the past, and stuck to the same timeframe for this to happen in both readings...

Any thoughts on what the cards mean? Also, why would the cards change so much during the course of a few weeks...or is it not a significant change?

Your advice is much appreciated....

It's a common mistake, even among seasoned readers to think that the tarot "makes" the future. That is, if the tarot says, "You'll meet a tall, dark handsome stranger," a tall, dark handsome stranger is created and directed at you. Like the cards are directors of a play, and all they're telling you in a reading is the next part of the script--what will happening the play, no if's, and's or but's. But if you think about it, would you really want it that way? Because that means you have no free will. Nor does anyone else. It means that even if you don't want to meet this stranger, there's no avoiding it. That doesn't sound so nice to me.

Luckily, that isn't what Tarot cards do. Tarot cards predict what is most likely to happen if things keep on as they've been going. And that includes if YOU do exactly what you've been doing. If you don't veer left instead of right, if you don't suddenly decide to quit your job and fly to Pairs--that certainly would have put an end to that new job title and raise, wouldn't it? And how would you explain why the cards were wrong?--Answer, the cards don't tell you what to do. Just what is LIKELY to happen if you go on as you're going on (i.e. don't quit your job). Which means you CAN change things if you want to. Isn't that nice?

You see, what you do, what everyone does, changes things. And the tarot, on average, doesn't predict any farther ahead than 30-90 days. So it's no shock if what it predicted a month ago has changed. Because maybe the tarot was looking at the company and saying "IF things stay the same at the company, this is what will happen." But guess what? Things didn't stay the same. You may not even know what happened, but someone changed their minds, or had a bad day, or made a mess of things. And that right turn the company was suppose to take, the one that would give you a job title and money? Turned into a left turn that is now going to get you not exactly what you want but what you need. Thems the breaks when everyone has free will. And you should be relieved about it, not upset. Because if ever the reader predicts something really bad will happen, you now know there is a chance of avoiding or changing it.

I will stay positive nevertheless and see what things unfold...once again, appreciate the detailed response and insight.

It's a bit tricky to ask us to comment on cards that someone else (not you) interpreted if they aren't here themselves to say how they got the message they got. Maybe she's psychic and got some sort of psychic flash.

Maybe do a reading yourself and post it in Your Readings.

Your questions were about the future, and here is the thing about readings about the future. The nature of the future is that it is not set in stone most times and it can change. ALL that any reading on the future cna do is tell you the future you are heading towards at the exact moment in time that the reading was done. That is ALL any reading on the fuutre can ever do.

The future can change and that might invalidate the intitial reading. But that does nto mean the reading was inaccurate. It was perfectly accurate at the time it was done. It just means that the future changed after the moment in time the reading was done.

That is the nature of reading on the future with Tarot. Now usually readings on the fuuter DO come true as most of us are creatures of habit and tend to react in predicatable ways. But not always.

Sometimes something as simple sounding as us hearing what our future is can make us act and/or feel differently towards the situation and EVEN THAT can at times be enough to change the future.

Only you can know this, but if the first reading made you so happy, do you think that mood caused you to feel or act differnetly to the sitiaution than if you had not gotten taht news.

I will not tell you what I think the cards mean right now as we all read differnetly and my way wuold be very different from your readers and thus, in my eyes, irrelevant. As the cards pulled were hers (his?) and I would liekly have gottne different cards to give me the message she/he was intented to get.

Thanks for your response...I think you might be onto something....when I heard the news which was very positive in the first reading....I was so elated that all I kep thinking of was that....now it is possible that this may have affected something energetically....

newbiehere, I actually don't think that energetically things have changed so much. I just pulled 3 quick cards (1 - past, 2 - present, 3 - future) for you on this and all I'll say here is that your Knight of Pentacles still comes up (at least for me) in the future position. So that was the 3rd card pulled from an extremely well shuffled deck and it does seem to offer some validation there.
