signifigance in the high priestess w empress?
I keep getting these 2 cards side by side. i am trying to figure out what the correlation is and if there is any signifigant meaning when together? I see the HP as the unknown... but you really know what it is... the subconcious the empress is about nurturing it, taking part of helping things grow, like mothering your family. so together could it be saying what you hope for and know is happening and now there is a responsibility to take care of what you have? |

Her instincts know if it's too early for it to be revealed to the world--or if it's the right time to reveal it. When that time comes, the seedling gets passed onto the Empress (or, if you like the HPS gives birth and become the mother--baby real and outside in the world). This is the idea out in the air and sun where it can grow into something, but very new and fragile. The Empress' job is not only to nurture this new, realized idea but keep it safe so it can grow into it's full potential. So what you have with the HPS/Empress are two things: on the idea side, it's the development of the idea toward becoming a reality (HPS), and it's early, fragile realization and growth (Empress). On the other side, you have the developer of the idea (HPS) who then become the one who nurtures and protects it once it's been made real (Empress). So the cards together could either be talking about something you are thinking about and trying to develop and make real, or they could be talking about your role as an HPS (developer) and eventual transformation into Empress (nurturer). |

So to simplify in kind of a silly way, or maybe sexualize it instead of simplify it, would you say that you have (in effect) The Magician (a guy who carries the seed) the Empress (a woman who incubates the seed in pregnancy) and then the High Priestess might be seen as "the gleam in Daddy's eye"-----so to speak? (My grandmother used to tell me how far back in history something happened by saying "that was even before you were a gleam in your Daddy's eye".) Hmmm, I don't know where that leaves the Emperor. Unless----I just had a thought. Do the first three cards show the divine conception of Christ, in which case Joseph would be the Emperor? I mean, would that maybe have been the original idea in Tarot cards when they were first created? This stuff is deep for my old brain before I have my coffee but it's very interesting. The High Priestess as "a gleam in Daddy's eye" to me just means he gets the idea and wants to have a child with the Empress but that would probably be something secret since the High Priestess keeps secrets. __________________ Check out the A. that makes a lot of sense. i dont think it pertains to babies though in where i am coming from on this. I think it could be more of a progression line up. |

"OMG! It's real!" So one can understand if the HPS is sometimes seen as the pregnant one, or at least that first, secret trimester of pregnancy when no one but she might know. The Emperor fits in very nicely with all this--so long as we don't identify the personality with the gender. The Empress is the "mothering" side, the side which, like most moms in the animal world, feeds and protects her vulnerable infants, up through their vulnerable childhood. She cares for them all those years when they can't care for themselves. But then comes a point where they can start to care for themselves. At that point, they need to leave mom and learn how to be adults. That's what the Emperor is for. It's really the oldest story in the book. The infant and child cared or by his mom until he's too old to stay with her--that point where he says, "Mom! Leave me alone! You're embarrassing me." At that point, it's time for him to learn how to be a "man" and part of the tribe. Because if he isn't taught this by a male he respects and wants to emulate, he'll become a danger to the tribe. The young male won't listen to mom, and, being at the height of his energy, power and testosterone, will reek havoc if not managed by a father figure. Hence, we have the Emperor. The one who comes in when the child (or thing that's being developed) can't be coddled any longer. It's mature enough that it needs authority, rules, direction. Yes?
