OMG.......no joke...today...the second block I delivered...there lying in the grass was a brand new (as in unsmoked cigarette) I thought about this thread and picking it up. First just lighting it and as the smoke went up blowing into that smoke. Then I thought about ripping it open to burn the tobacco. Then I come here and read this : )

I used to fly like Peter Pan too : ) More so than the magic carpets. I drove cars alot too though mine were on the ground.

Not that i'm implying that's what you're doing at all, please do not think that's what i mean. Just remember what your objective is and keep your focus, and whatever you put into your work will be exactly what it needs.

hope that makes sense
I want to be bedazzled with crystals LOL Blind everything a mile away : )

Thanks for the reminder about intent and focus. This makes perfect sense and actually a really good point to bring up as someone else may be following along and decide to try this.

A year ago I put it out to the Universe my desire to move back to CA. My whole life is up in the air right now. Everything is falling into place but I need that one big piece of the puzzle to fall...it's sink or swim time. My window of opportunity is here now....I need to do everything I can to help that piece fall. And so when I put this bag together I'll wait till my mind is clear and I am completely focused : ) And I need to get it together soon.

I have two small soft leather pouches that I call my "medicine bags". they are quite small and the one is generally used to carry my "shooting" marble sized crystal ball in. Though, occasionally, I will use it to carry other things. the other one I change frequently with different items--always a crystal or two, perhaps some herb snippet and maybe something else that is meaningful to me at the time. they are on a long thin leather strap that I can easily put around my neck to wear. Each pouch was purchased for under $5.00 in a New Age store--if you have one close to you, check it out.

I have another 'purse' that was knitted for me by a very dear friend. It is large enough to carry a deck of tarot cards in it, which I think now was it's original purpose, but I also often use it to carry other things - my smaller deck of tarot/or oracle cards, a few crystals, ect. It also has a shoulder strap. When my friends and I or my sister and I would do our "power shopping trips", (Christmas or outlet shopping malls), I'd use this as my 'purse' as my cell phone and my wallet would fit nicely in it and I could attach my keys to the strap of it. I also always would keep a jet stone and citrine stone in it for the shopping trips also. citrine to help me with my money spending, and the jet as a protection against negativity and attacks.

just a few more ideas.
Thanks CN for sharing this : ) If I ever get it together I would love to make other bags as well.

well, the spirits are certainly open to your offering or they would not have provided you with the means to do it. Talk about synchronicity! I thought I would also mention for you that the tobacco does not have to be burned nor smoked to be a prayer offering. One way is to simply remove it from the paper, hold it in your hand as you make your prayer/intention, and then release it to the four winds. Another way is to take a small piece of cloth (often red cotton in many Native traditions) and wrap the loose tobacco inside it so that it is bundled tight like it's own little 'medicine bag', pray and/or make your intention holding this little tobacco bundle and then you can do whatever you want with it (like place it inside the medicine bag you are making). These are just more ideas for you to consider...when you listen to your inner self you are going to know what to do with this offering.

Well, that is a couple of nudges in regard to tobacco you have gotten - and what Wild said was good advice if I were you, I would get some American Spirit ciggies (they are the purest tobacco in cig form, I do believe) and rip one open and let the flakes fly! lol it may be that your Native spirit guide would really appreciate the gift, and send you more support... sometimes you have to give to get, ya know?

Ok I need to get with the program here.....

The cigarette I saw....I didn't pick it up and the next day I realised a few blocks later I forgot to look for it...but I did find a half smoked cigarette with a bird on the paper (that I still need to look up online) and I better get on it or the spirits are gonna wonder about me.

And a few days ago I picked up my herb book and realised in the front it talks about the gender/planet/elements and their use sooooo....I need to read this and then get back here to share. And I need to get on my bag before the moon is waning again. And at the rate I'm going.....

So I will be back on this.

ok from the book......

The author says.....masculine herbs are those which are possesed of strong, fiery vibrations......feminine herbs are plants which are quieter. subtler, softer in their effects.

Then he lists the planets such as........

Sun: Legal Matters, Healing, Protection

And then he lists the elements such as.....

Earth: Money, Prosperity, Fertility, Healing, Employment

So basically the uses that are listed are simply a combination of the gender/planet/element for each herb. Nothing is mentioned about including all the same/one of each. Simply pick the herb(s) that fit your need.

He does mention the book Earth Power for more information but I don't have this book so I can't cross reference. In my book The Witch's Coin (Christopher Penczak) this author also talks about making bags with crystals, herbs etc so I'll take another look as I'm thinking he gives a little more detail.

The Witches Coin

Ok as this book is about prosperity and money magic the author talks alot about the Sun, Venus and Jupiter. The crystals he lists are for various reasons...some are to attract the money and others are to remove blocks, fears etc. concerning prosperity and money. The herbs he lists...I notice quite a few are ruled by Jupiter.

So nothing that states you should represent all 4 elements...though it seems earth and fire are the preferred ones.

In The Witches Coin the author is more concerned about the waxing/waning of the moon...day of the week..what signs the Sun, Venus and Jupiter fall in. In Cunningham's Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs he has more of a if you need to do the spell now than do it now don't wait for everything to be lined up. And this book is basically a listing of herbs and what they can be used for.

Oh and I haven't seen anything mentioned about gender other than this from my earlier post...

The author(Scott Cunningham) says.....masculine herbs are those which are possesed of strong, fiery vibrations......feminine herbs are plants which are quieter. subtler, softer in their effects.

So I guess the main thing is to pick the herbs/crystals based on my intention of what the bag is for.
