The armor on the K of P may also be suggesting the notion of his penchant to have and to keep and protect his nice things. It gives him a further layer of security so that he gurantees a sturdy legacy to hand down. __________________ I never bend, fold, or mutilate. Unless I'm in a hurry. |

As you've revived this thread, let me add that that armor on the King/Pents may be very apt as armor does say: "Look at how rich I am!" Not only is the cost of a suit very expensive in and of itself, but having it also says you are rich enough that you can waste hours learning to fight in it, you are rich enough to afford the protein (meat) you need to consume to remain strong enough to wear/fight in it, you are rich enough to have a fine, specially bred horse to carry you in full armor, you are rich enough to have servants to put you in that armor, and you are, flatly, rich enough to declare war on other countries. A suit of armor is rather like the nuclear arms of by-gone days. If you could afford to suit up and train a lot of armored men, you were going to win most contests (Agincourt being the notable exception ).In wearing that armor, the King/Pents is more or less boasting about how rich he is. Armor says a lot of things about wealth and status that makes it very apt for the King/Pents. |

For me the King Of Pentalces armor has a clear message: He is the only king that displays armor, a sign of protection, and strength, he also has his foot of Armor placed a on what looks like a head or a helmet (perhaps this is a helmet of someone who has cheated him in business).. what ever this thing is he is placing his foot on, is he is making his point very clear “Don’t mess with me!”. He is showing total dominance. In some cultures placing your foot on something is a sign of total disrespect. Successful business people do not get where they are at by letting others walk over them, they are cunning and will not be taken advantage of. This King is generous and enjoys the finer things in life and has a steady temperament, but never violate his trust, for those people he will have absolutely NO mercy. |

I have always looked at the Emperor and the King of Pentacles as being interchangable in a reading ... __________________ I don't lead the parade - I AM THE PARADE! This is not rocket surgery, ya know! Bury the past - and move on to a new tomorrow. |

Me too. I often have these 2 cards come up together in readings. And the Emperor is the 4th numbered major, so I would add the 4 of pentacles into the mix as well here when looking at the King of Pents. That's because the 4 of pentacles can often suggest someone with a tendency to hold on to possessions, which dovetails with starrynight’s comment below re the armour of the King of Pents as a symbol of his penchant of protecting and keeping his possessions. |
