Thank you Winterchild!
sorry I missed the earlier pix! They are so wonderfully whimsical. What great buttons you've made :-) __________________ It's ALL about the road trip, not the final destination. |

Buttons..!
Thanks GreatDane.... I just love recycling stuff..... and giving it a new different lifestyle.... and a while back I had a request for some small *man-type* bags, so I came up with the beer bottle cap buttons. They are attached using copper wire which I unwound from old resistors

Nice Winterchild! Using towels is interesting your method of getting buttons would be a lot of fun. |

Why not two shank buttons and a length of cord - the way that 'Interoffice Envelopes' close? Sorry if someone else suggested this - was not going to read the whole thread just to find out! __________________ I don't lead the parade - I AM THE PARADE! This is not rocket surgery, ya know! Button and String
Those are the ones I mean tarotbear..... I am sure they have a proper name but I have no idea what it is!! I just use one button though and wrap the cord around the deck then around the button. |

I made a deck case knitted from Mary K Greer's knitting pattern. It turned out great! I used a seashell and a loop that goes around the shell to hold the flap down. You can see a picture of it here https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater |

It's not my favorite texture to knit because I feel like it takes longer to move the string forward or backward before each new stitch. You alternate the stitches k,p,k,p,k,p and the row above it you p on the k and k on the p. But it looks beautiful so it's worth it on small projects haha. I had started a hooded scarf last fall in seed stitch and gave up, I donated the piece to a yarnbombing group north of my city LOL!the pattern is located here if you want to try to knit one, it does use short rows to complete the bottom but it's pretty simple once you try it http://marygreer.wordpress.com/2008/...-instructions/ Edit: forgot to mention the yarn is cotton so it's pretty rigid and stiff makes for a great case that hold shape well.
