Crossing Card in CC and timing
Am i the only one having problem about the crossing card in Celtic Cross? Every time i make a reading i am getting confused about crossing card. Usually i check the crossing card -near future and outcome to say 'whats gonna happen' In this reading. while the center card is the only major card (Star) i picked Ten of Swords as crossing card. 3C as near future and Death is the outcome. So, if i don't stop to feel victimized (10S ) the friendship (3C) will be 'death ' am i wrong? What if i pick ACE of Swords as crossing,8S near future,Magician as outcome for 'how should i act' : Ace of swords here suggesting not seeing clearly or not being 'clear' So,here make your point clear (ace of swords) without blocking yourself (8S) to make a first step to communicate (MAgician). Do you agree with my interpretations ? or am i missing the real meaning of Crossing card here? I also count on the reading for a long time period if there are mostly major cards(at least three, specially as outcome and near future) but when there are minor card mostly or only,i accept as some taken action could change it and counting on it till make a new action then making a reading again. What do you think, make sense for some of u ? |

Hi sttirella. Sorry didn't get to this, I kind of thought others would jump in. ![]() To me the "crossing" card in a Celtic Cross reading is something or someone that is in opposition to the querent. This may be an attitude or prejudice the querent has within themselves, or it could be something external, a person or set of circumstances. So I kind of think of the crossing card as a stumbling block to the querent moving forward in whatever situation the reading is about. It is something they are going to have to change, or remove, or work around to get where they need to go. Let's say they're trying to get a promotion at work. Then you pull The Hermit reversed (I actually just pulled this card out of the middle of my Deviant Moon for this post) - I would say that the person is introverted and withdrawn and this could be hurting their prospects for the promotion. It could be something they need to work on to be noticed more by the people who would be deciding the promotions. This is also a place to watch for court cards to come in which might indicate a particular person. A court as the crossing card may represent a specific person who is being the problem. A Queen of Wands may represent a woman supervisor who doesn't like the querent. Now the crossing card can, as you said, work in conjunction with cards relating to the future or the outcome. For these you might find cards that can offer advice on overcoming the blockage. A 4 of Wands, for example, might indicate a suggestion to partake in more social activities with folks from work. Hope that helps some. __________________ "A famous person once said; 'you can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time' ... but, as I (an even more famous person) say; 'if you don't teach them to read, you can fool them whenever you like!'" I think I mostly read the rossing card as an influence on the theme, and so it can be negative or positive, and I would mostly read it with the enviroment card as I guess it's mostly influenced by something outside yourself. I read the conscious (above the thema card) with the near future and outcome card as the road, but if the conscious card doesn't fit it shows expectations are off, and the unconscious/person card or the crossed/environment card, might have bigger influence or point you towards issues in yourself that you haven't faced yet. I hope this makes a bit of sense, hard to describe. |

I read the Cross Card as an influence, and it can be positive or negative, and not necessarily as 'obstruction.' I read the first 3 cards as A) Card One is (the question, whatever), B) Card Two is going to influence it and the combination of these two leads to c) Card Three, which I always read as 'the First Conclusion.' (This is my way of doing things and other may not agree - your milage may vary.) I see this as happening in the near future. I see the Sixth card as the Second Conculsion - happening down the road a bit, and the Tenth Card as the Final Conclusion - how the answer to the question will conclude - in the future. __________________ I don't lead the parade - I AM THE PARADE!
