Well, my dog's issues are inter-dog aggression, and thunderstroms - he is afraid of other dogs, and therefore very defensive, and is terrified of thunderstorms...so I am using black tourmaline, as well as celestite and amber, and rose quartz.

So you would want to choose stones that are meant to heal the issues your dog has, whether that be physical, mental or emotional...

@WildC, I know you know a lot about crystals, and about healing...so I know you would never endanger an animal...I did not realsie you meant to place the crystals under the dish and not in it! That is a fab idea - a dish with a separate pocket for stones! I think I will try taping some black tourmaline under my guy's water dish, to see if it helps the dishes are stainless steel, and so should conduct the vibrations of the crystal very well, and as they sit in a holder, the bottom of the dish is nowhere near the ground...

And, Wild and rainboweve, the crystal collars - ZOMG! I can't believe people are paying so very much for Swarovski, when they could have the real deal and then some at that price!

Bhavana, your animals sound lovely - and I am so glad you are caring for them How wonderful that they managed to find you! ♥

And, well, as you say - if the evidence is merely anecdotal, that does not stop it from possibly working, and having an effect ;p I go by the theory that if computers, watches and radios need crystals to actually work, then certainly they would do us good, as well! and - as the crystal studies show - they certainly DO work! lol! And they even work on the cynical, like my mate... he is converted for life, and addicted to black tourmaline! I even have my neighbors wearing them, to great effect!

@goosie, that was a great question! thanks for joining the conversation. If you do try it, I would love to hear how you did it and what stones you use for what issues.

@Lotus, no worries...I realized when I read your post I hadn't really made it clear what was rolling around in my head. (nothing new there LOL) I obviously don't have a way to make this type of bowl (preferably out heavy glass for durability and non-scootability) but maybe if I see some already made I will figure out a way to do that.

@Bhavana, your sweet little guy sounds like a real charmer. You are so lucky to have each other. Didn't you attach a pic of him in another thread as a joke? I seem to remember seeing a pic of a dog that made me laugh, was that you/him? (the cat's lucky too, but likely he/she doesn't care as long as you bow to its will LOL)

Yes, it's true that many different crystals work on the same issues, and that's probably good because we are all individuals (including animals) and react differently to different things. It is the same in the herb world and in medicine. I think that's why it's good that we are getting to know many different crystals and can see first hand the differences so we know what to look for. For example, if Lotus tries the tourm under the water bowl for her dog, she is going to be able to recognize the symptoms of "over-exposure" right away because she knows what to look for. (BTW, Lotus, I would suggest using Magnesite for the aggression issue you mentioned.)

Meanwhile, I now have some ideas rolling around in my head for things that might be able to do "double duty" like dog charms/purse pulls and crystal necklaces that can also be fastened around the outside of the water bowls. Will give these things some thought...I am going to a gem and mineral show tomorrow and have already compared prices of certain items I need so if I don't find them there at a good price I won't overspend and will order them instead Hopefully in a week or two I will have a few design ideas worked out and have some things made to see how they work out.

wow, I love the multi-purpose necklace etc. idea that's *awesome*, WildChilde!

failing that, I did have the idea that a simple pocket made of material and sewn onto two elastic straps, with clips on the ends, would attach to the rim and hold the stone below.

And thanks so much for the hot tip on magnesite - I will go check it out!

Ok I read something in this thread and then didn't see it to respond.

Since the crystals aren't actually going in the water (and I got this idea from something Lotus said) aren't there water/food dishes that are removable and sit in some sort of holder (like a tray) If this were enclosed from the outside and there was a gap underneath the bowls then the crystals could sit there. The crystals could always be put in a little mesh/nylon bag to keep them in place and then the bag could be taped down if necessary. Or if the tray was open then the crystals could still be put in a bag and then the bag taped to the side of the bowl.

I don't know what's sold but this makes me think of a double boiler for making candy or also candle making.

I have posted quite a few pics of my dogs - but could it have been this picture? I posted it in Lyn's chihuahua deck thread, she used it for the 4 of swords... (the "rest" card).

Even though he's just having a little nap in this photo, it's actually a perfect shot to show you how I get him into position for crystal treatment. i can lay the stones in the vicinity of his hips and leg/knee joints. He has those bad knees like most chi's have, it's a genetic thing, exacerbated by bad breeding practices - and the problem is now leading into arthritis, which is made worse by a few extra pounds (which we are working on - he has lost 2lbs)
Not sure if the crystals work, but he doesn't mind having me put them on him. I also take the opportunity when he is lying like this to massage his hips and knees and lower back area at the same time.

As you can imagine, I feel compelled to change my pillowcases every day.
