Dragon Tarot -- The High Priestess II

Dragon Tarot by Peter Pracownik

From the Little White Book
Quote:
II THE HIGH PRIESTESS - The High Priestess stands between the two pillars of secret knowledge and initiation. She is the guardian of things hidden and intutitive. Above her, the symbol of the Moon. In her hand, she holds the Torah, so written in the magical alphabet of the runes. Above, on one side, the Earth; while on the upper right, the symbol of Yin and Yang, indicating that the universe is in a constant state of change. Before her we see a great cauldron, reminding us of her association with witchcraft. From one of her hands a rainbow descends into the melting pot, symbolic of the seven levels of initiation that each of us must eventually undergo.

Divinatory Meaning - Be guided by your intuition.
Reverse Meaning - Superstitious, deluded.
Ah, the Lady of the Night! She is deep blue with a red gem on her forehead, indicating a supernatural wisdom. Above her a crescent moon, flanked on one side by the earth and the yinyang on the other. The two pillars are much like the yinyang indicating balance- one white, one black. There is a dead plant next to the cauldron on the left, enhancing the mentality that this is the Crone/Wise One aspect of the triple goddess. The cauldron forces me to think of Cerridwyn and her fable. I do like the added touch of mushrooms to the ground, as while they are destroyers of dead things they pave the way for the next generation. The High Priestess is one who helps pave the way for the Fool with secret knowledge clutch in a hand and taken out from under wing.

A crescent moon pair appears as the symbols on the card, part of the way some pagans symbolize the goddess -- ) O (

Crossed white and black crescents (above High Priestess head)= Represents movement toward perfection and a balance between dark, light influences / male, female energies / astral, metaphysical planes. The space in the middle of the two cresents is astral space.

The Hebrew letter Beth is slightly smaller on the top than on the bottom. This shows the idea of being the same but not equal. And leads to “As above”; “So below”. To the dragons’ right: your left; there is a leafless tree. This tree is a Pomegranate. The Pomegranate represents Yang/Male/Mercury/Fire/Also known as the tree of knowledge. About the cauldron there are mushrooms. The Mushrooms represent Yin/Female/Moon/Water/Also used as a Drug: Ointment: Potion. This Yin and Yang represents that though everything changes, it all remains in constant balance.

To her upper right (your left) the earth glows hovering above a darkened column; leads to the idea that divine knowledge remains hidden from most. Whereas common knowledge; is shared openly, and discussed. To her upper left (your right) Yin and yang hover above the lighted column indicating that though things are in constant motion; they remain balanced. This card is all about the three levels of existence must remain in perfect balance.

The priestess herself holds a torah written in Runic writing, a white bracelet on her wrist indicates Hindu knowledge, the rainbow leaving her hand into the melting pot are the seven levels of initiation each of us must undergo eventually, the Cauldron is her link to witchcraft, you start to get the idea that she is knowledgeable in all beliefs.

Upon her head we have the horns of Isis: While the crescent above her head indicates the Triple Crown Goddess. The folds of her wings are hidden secrets, and give you the other idea of protecting things or beings. The cauldron has four sides as a cube. You will also notice that the columns have distinct vines curling around and up them. Here the vines represent fertility, where the dark column with the vine in Egyptology represents the moon, and that indicates the God Osiris. The light column for sun in Egyptology with the vine signifies the Goddess Isis. And the Priestess is there daughter Isis. Ivy also equates to Life/Death/Renewal or Fertility.

At the bottom of the card you have two facing crescents at the low left and right corners. This represents the full and new Moon also the goddess symbol.
