Hello! I certainly didn't expect this to happen as quickly as it has, but my second Tarot book - the men's book - is alive and for sale! http://www.amazon.com/John-Mangiapan...r_dp_pel_pop_1 "Every Man's Tarot: Tarot and the Male Experience" written and illustrated by you-know-who! available on amazon.com and amazon.co.uk AISN - 147830782X ISBN-13 - 978-1478307822 Kindle - B008P6IF08 This is the book that the men's Tarot deck (The Everyman Tarot) I was designing was created for. This is not your standard nor 'traditional' Tarot card interpretation book! In fact, it is very untraditional. Part tarot, part men's life experiences and men's philosophies - with a touch of locker room discussion thrown in. I have it listed under both Tarot and under Philosophy. If you go to the Kindle edition you can read the introduction where I explain that I, believing that 98% of all previous Tarot books are written by women for a female audience, used my years of Tarot experience to create a new concept - Tarot for Men - that does not refer to the coy, stifling Victorian concepts of the meanings of the cards. This concept can be applied to all men - straight, gay, or bisexual. I am sure that it will attract some female readers, but they should be aware - I don't diss women in this book. The traditional Female cards such as the HP, Justice, Star, and the Queens are still women. When I first was writing this book I was expecting it to be illustrated with the RWS - but it is not. I did create a male to go all the way through each suit (yes, I am one of them-Pentacles), so creating a new card for The 9 Pents with myself in it was a bit of work! I also re-interpreted a few completely; but the RWS influence is still in the images- just not the text. It does not follow the lines of my previous book, and for each card I created a section called 'Worst Case Scenario' - the worst thing the card can mean. The only repeated material is the sections on shuffling, doing spreads, and the Life Year Cards sections. Everything else is entirely original. {Just like me!}I am considering trying to get the deck published; not sure of it is necessary since my discussions also fit the RWS deck images .... for the most part. {NOTE: there is no workbook edition} I'd ask who is brave enough to buy it - but I already sold the first Kindle copy to someone on AT! Be merciful, friends! __________________ I don't lead the parade - I AM THE PARADE! This is not rocket surgery, ya know! Bury the past - and move on to a new tomorrow. |

I'm a bit strapped for cash at the moment, but I've got it saved to my wishlist!

Thanks for the update
I will keep an eye out and see if I can see your tarot and book somewhere soon. I appreciate different tarot illustrations, as I seldom buy such books with standard RWS graphics. The perspective sounds great and the pics on Amazon seem nice. (edited for spelling). __________________ Still, cerulean surges... where, as sunset lingers Eve with golden fingers... Hector A. This is wonderful, John! I'm not a man but I'm definitely going to have to have one. I didn't get your first book, unfortunately, but I wish I had. Maybe I can still get it one day soon. I hope you have great success with this! You deserve it! and I like the pictures I've seen of the deck, too. ![]() Coming back to add that I got a copy of your first book on Amazon from a used seller just now! I had just enough left on my gift card balance to get it. Yay! I have the second book on my shopping list to buy when I can, too. __________________ Check out the A. Nonny Mouse Thread! I have just discovered something interesting out - I was wondering why in the print version of my book all the illustrations seem ever-so-slightly blurry - and found out it is the conversion from WORD to PDF that makes jpgs 'blurry.' Does anyone know why? If you submit a Word file they convert it to PDF anyway, so they recommeded uploading a PDF to begin with. I just corrected a couple of 'broken' sentences in the manuscript, so the book should be back up for sale within 24 hours ~ if you were thinking of buying one! I'm going to buy it but have to wait a little while to be able to. I should be able to pretty soon now. __________________ Check out the A. Nonny Mouse Thread! Tarotbear's book deserves praise for not only its unique approach, but also for its well-conceived format. Each of the cards from the Major Arcana to the minor arcana is discussed in an essay form; includes anecdotes to illustrate possible core meanings; reversal and "worse case scenarios". The conversational tone and humour contribute to making this publication appealing and readable. Highly recommended for all readers interested in not merely the "traditional" takes, but in thinking out of the box where the inner and outer essence of a particular card concerned. __________________ LIGHTLOVEPEACE |

Bumping this up - a little late for Christmas giving! ![]() I just received a 'glowing' review from a total stranger who is using my descriptions of the Majors for comparative discussions in her Tarot classes. Can't ask for a better review than that!
