3-card Daily
As I am still "recovering" from a hiatus of a few years, I have found daily card draws to be very useful in retraining myself in readings. I did start out with a simple single-card draw just to get an overall feel for the day. But several weeks ago, I decided to "graduate" to 3-card daily readings. Not being satisfied with a simple "beginning-middle-end" reading, I wanted to make it more meaningful to me. Here is what I came up with; 1.....2.....3 1 - Main theme for the day (overall look at what the day will be like). 2 - Challenge (what will challenge me - sometimes this is external, sometimes internal). 3 - Lesson (what "lesson" should I take away from the day's events to aid my personal growth). Not only is this helping me with good insights into how the cards apply to daily, real-world experiences, it is also helping me to move along in my personal growth. Just thought folks may like to use it. __________________ "A famous person once said; 'you can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time' ... but, as I (an even more famous person) say; 'if you don't teach them to read, you can fool them whenever you like!'" Thanks very much...I tend to lean toward 3 card spreads anyway and then branch out if I need/want further guidance or clarification. This particular one seems to be more self contained which I like. |

Thanks Trogon, I have recently started a daily draw thread for myself here on the forums, and this is just the sort of thing I need. I too, had a tarot break due to unforseen circumstances and this will help rebuild my confidence with the cards. I used it for my reading for myself today, and I already feel like I got a lot more than usual out of the cards, so thank you

Thanks for posting this! I love the balance of your "main theme - challenge - lesson" triad. It seems like a really productive way to think about the day. Do you usually do this in the morning? Being new to tarot, the 3-card "past-present-future" spread is the one I do most often. Now that I'm feeling comfortable with that, I'm looking to think about different meanings or concepts with the 3-card spread, and yours is a great one. Thanks! |

You're all very welcome. I am very glad that you're all finding this useful ![]() @oneredboot: Yes, I do these in the morning. My shift starts at 7:00 am, but supervisors & others don't come in till 7:30 or 8:00, so I have some time to do my reading and write down my notes on it. I also have the luxury of being able to leave my cards out through the day as reminders. It is very helpful to me to write down my initial interpretations, then at the end of the day I can make further notes in my book about how the day went & how the reading applied. Like I said an excellent learning tool as well as just a good start to the day. A variation of the 3-card past-present-future (or PPF) for a daily reading is the "beginning-middle-end" that I had mentioned. This is 3 cards in a linear spread (either vertical or horizontal) with those position meanings. It is useful in preparing for the days events. @Eyebright: Glad you're using it and finding it helpful for working back into reading. It can be a bit of a struggle picking it back up, but I'm finding as I learn the cards again that I'm getting new aspects and depth. Still a lot of work though. I'm going to stick with it, it's worth it. @toj: Thanks. I like how you put that; "self-contained".@sedgeez: I hope you are finding it useful. Have you had a chance to try it yet? __________________ "A famous person once said; 'you can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time' ... but, as I (an even more famous person) say; 'if you don't teach them to read, you can fool them whenever you like!'"
