Lo Scarabeo is my favorite publisher, too. If I absolutely had to draw up a Top Five Decks list right this very moment, I think four out of the five spots would go to LoS decks: the Tarot of Metamorphosis, the Sweet Twilight, the Fey, and the Universal Fantasy. I like the card size, the cardstock, the boxes, and the fact that they go out of their way to allow their decks to be somewhat challengingly removed from straight-up RWS clone-hood -- removed enough to be very stimulating and thought-provoking and intuition-encouraging, but not so far removed that using them becomes an actual chore. Not all of their artwork or concepts hook me personally, but I love and respect their overall approach. |

I agree on the last part, it seems that I know what to expect art wise but it is not as huge a turn off like it used to be. It depends on the deck as to whether or not I let it bother me too much but they do seem way too predictable in a lot of areas. __________________ May the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house. - George Carlin |

I really am bugged by the multi-language titles - but for the most part, it depends on the deck. The card stock is ok, not my favorite, though. You mention Wildwood and Druidcraft, but I feel that the cardstock of those decks is too cardboard like, and not flexible enough - too easily damaged and creased. The happy medium in between would be some USGames decks, esp. their decks that are printed in China. (The Haindl is my idea of perfect cardstock) I adore the way the LS tuck boxes are made - and I find the LWB to be no better or no worse than those of the other publishers. |

I am really not a fan of LS decks, for four reasons: 1. The artwork on so many of their decks looks like childish cartoons 2. Borders 3. Multi-language titles (I know the justification but not everyone who buys decks are newbies and need titles.) 4. It looks like they release new decks strictly to release new decks and make more money. Marseille, RWS and Thoth are enough for me. I neither need nor want every possible variant of RWS that LS dreams up. I'm too much the traditionalist to appreciate 99.99% of LS decks. I bought trimming tools mostly in the event I ever buy another LS deck. Oh hell, why not be honest? I DETEST most of what LS puts out, except for the historical reproductions. I used to pass on Lo Scarabeo decks myself but that's just because I hadn't gotten enough experience with reading to understand how to use the decks. Like with any publisher, there are some decks from LS that I wouldn't be interested in having but I love the ones I have so far. Today I'm getting acquainted with the Sweet Twilight and it's so much fun. I love it. The LWB is even really good for this deck. __________________ Check out the A. Nonny Mouse Thread! Interesting thread
Right now, I just have the Visconti Sforza that's an LoS. I like it just fine, but then it's more of a study, than a reading, deck for me. I think some of their decks are lovely, but many seem to have the same style artwork, just different themes. Not saying ALL of them, just seems like quite a few. I don't mind the multi-lingual titles on the Visconti, but considering the size of the decks and the borders most have, I would prefer they not have them, I do see, however, WHY they have them. I know not all their decks do have all the languages though. __________________ It's ALL about the road trip, not the final destination. |

I want to reiterate this as it is so unfair when people say they ALL have them and so they won't buy them. Increasingly they don't. Because LoS do listen ! __________________ ~ ~ I probably shouldn't be here. But this was the only universe which had a vacancy. ~ ~ (Granny from Hell) I is very deaf. Please post loudly. I find that they are more 'Art' than 'Tarot' if that makes sense... bordering on Magic The Gathering (not a bad thing, most of the MTG artwork is fantastic)... just my opinion. Frank. |
