The Onion Spread

Hi folks,

It's been a really long time since I made a spread and lately I've been trying to cold read people and I needed some assistance. Thus the "Onion Spread" has been created. You're going to have to use your imagination with the image below. The spread is supposed to go around in a swirl until you get to the central issues. Please be sure to post feedback here if you've used it and it works for you.

Here goes:

************1************
*************************
****************5/6********
*************************
****2*******7/8********4*
*************************
*************************
*************************
************3************

1 - The person strangers or acquaintances see when they look at you
2 - Why you feel the need to portray yourself in this way to strangers or acquaintances
3 - The person close family, friends and relationships see when they look at you
4 - Why you feel the need to portray yourself differently to family and friends as opposed to strangers or acquaintances
5 - Who you are at your core at the present (Negatively speaking: Insecurities, weaknesses, fears, etc.)
6 - Who you are at your core at the present (Positively speaking: Strengths, hopes, aspirations, etc)
7 - What happened to make you the way you are at your negative core
8 - What happened to make you the way you are at your positive core

Very interesting spread Ishotthebreeze. Definitely one I'd use, so have printed it & will put it in my notebook. I like the spiral pattern to direct you in to the causes of the issue being explored. A good one for helping a person who is having issues in their interpersonal dealings.

Oh ... and I love your avatar. Opus rules! I was very sad when Bloom County ended.

Thanks Trogon. The spread is working out really well. I've had a lot of positive responses from those who I've been exchanging with. If you use the right deck it really cuts to the heart of the matter. My Deviant Moon deck shreds people for whatever reason and is great to use with this because it's so revealing.

I first saw Opus on a Christmas special when I was younger..."A Wish for Wings that Work" I think it was called. Been a fan ever since.

I tried this spread last night, reading about myself, and it really gave me something to chew on. It was pretty darned accurate, and it helped me to understand one of the cards better as well. (It's a card that I pull often, and wonder about its relevance to my life, and now I totally see it.)

This spread brought up an issue I really need to think about, and prompted me to do a 3 card spread about it that blew me away. One of my best self-readings ever, brought tears to my eyes b/c I knew exactly what the cards meant and they were so, so right. So thank you for that, b/c I wouldn't have gotten there without the insights I gained from the Onion Spread. I will absolutely be using it in the future.

I was using the Anna K deck.

Very insightful indeed- I used the Deviant Moon as well... got right in to some private issues, so wasn't sure about posting it publicly because I think I still need a little help getting outside of my own head in parts of it... but really got down to an issue I was trying to see more clearly, and was able to see something that's been troubling me about myself a little more clearly. So yeah, mostly worked really well for me, aside from the things my mind was still trying to shut out. But I wrote it down and am going to refer back to it from time-to-time with a clear head so I can hopefully keep busting past those ego barriers. And you should take that as a compliment, because I never write anything down that I can refer back to.
