Summer 2013 Oregon Gathering at Grizabella's House
Let's decide on what date we should plan for a Tarot gathering for next summer. Since it may be a small gathering the first year, I've decided to have it at my house. Please post in this thread to decide what month and what day would be best. Majority rules. Be back to check this thread in a little while. __________________ Check out the A. Nonny Mouse Thread! Well, it will give you a chance to get out of the big city and come to where life is a little more simple, maybe. We only have three motels here---that should tell you how small this town is. lol I think you might enjoy it. I haven't been able to go to any of the gatherings of Tarot enthusiasts. I've always thought it would be great to do that, though. In this town, I know there are quite a few people who use the cards, but probably not to the extent that I do. I've taught some of them and the used bookstore here will buy used Tarot decks because they sell well, so I know they're around somewhere. In Eugene there are a lot of people into the cards, too, because they sell them in many different places. I'll work on some flyers whenever we decide when would be a good time to have this and we'll see what we can do. __________________ Check out the A. Nonny Mouse Thread! At this point I don't have plans for the Summer of 2013 so any time would work. Perhaps Late July or August (post Country-Fair pre-Burning Man?) might work out if people want to camp, it would at least guarantee good weather. This is really lovely of you to offer to host. I had an idea if we can't get a big enough group to warrant a gathering at your place: we could possibly get a group together for Country Fair? Just an idea.

I also wanted to add that it would be super awesome, however, to get a group over to Cottage Grove, since it's such a sweet little town to visit. I'd love to check out those places that sell used tarot that you mentioned, too. |

I live on a double city lot with lots of shade in hot summer, so I think my landlady might even allow a few tents on the second lot if I ask her. As I said, there's room for sleeping bags in the house if people want to bring them. She's already given us permission to freely use the second lot as though we had rented that, too. What kind of activities would we want to do? Tarot readings, of course, but shall we plan on a Tarot deck/accessories swap? If people want to they can bring decks to exchange and of course bring their new decks for everyone to see. I could plan on a raffle for items related to Tarot, I think. Any other ideas? I'm going to PM some of the Oregon members who haven't seen this thread and see if they'll join in. I want to make sure to make it clear that people who don't live in Oregon aren't excluded from coming if they want to. Anyone is welcome, but I'm thinking realistically and starting small in saying Oregon. Of course, there's the matter of feeding everyone. There may need to be some small fee for attendance just to cover paper plates and whatever. Since I only have one bathroom, if many people come we might want a porta-potty so we'll have to figure out how to pay for the potty. I'm thinking maybe doing some Tarot readings for donations might help defray that cost. We're in a good location to just set up tables and put out a sign one evening where people who want to give readings could give them. I could put fliers around town, too. My next door neighbor is a fun person who puts on flaming poi shows on their front lawn every weekend with music and half the town gathers and sits in the grass to watch, so we'd be able to get some overflow from there who might want readings. Cool, huh? Let's all brainstorm some more. What about activities? Does anyone have any ideas? Do we want a speaker? Does anyone want to volunteer to BE a speaker? What about topics?People can email me if they want to. I have my email link active here, so you can email me by using the drop-down menu that opens when you click on my ID name to the left of this post. The email that's linked is the one I use for my website so putting a title to the email you send would be helpful to me in distinguishing what the email is regarding, whether it's the get-together or a reading request from the website. __________________ Check out the A. This is so gracious of you to host a gathering! I like all the ideas you are presenting. Tarot readings, trades, food, camping, all of it. This sounds like it could turn into a big thing!

Our next-door neighbor had a party last night for three birthday people and they had tents on their front lawn so I'm sure it's going to be alright if I do the same thing here next summer. They have live music and flaming poi demonstrations over there every weekend. Some of their guests even just slept right out in the yard without tents They partitioned off an area by hanging sheets in sort of a fence style thing around the yard so there was a little private area, and when we looked out the window this morning, there were people asleep right out in the open on the lawn. __________________ Check out the A. I'm going to bring this up again for the benefit of any new Oregon members and also for the purpose of reminding everyone that this is still "on", for anyone interested. I live in a very small, very relaxed little town. The nearest larger town is Eugene, Oregon, which is a university town. For people interested in an outing one day to go look around for metaphysical shops and such, that would be the place to go. Here we have two used bookstores that carry some Tarot when it's available. I'll be willing to give a little workshop (or a talk---about an hour or two segment, anyway) on my style of reading, which might not be just like whatever the current style is around the country so maybe that might be interesting for people who attend. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served. I'll try to convince my three little hens to produce lots of eggs before the gathering so we'll have some free range eggs for breakfast to go with whatever else is served. My salad and herb garden should be producing around then, too. I think I need two or three cohorts to put their heads together with mine to brainstorm and plan between now and then. Do I have any volunteers? Don't think anything at all on the scale of a BATS or one of the bigger get-togethers. Think more along the lines of going to your Granny's house for a family reunion of a family who has a tradition of divination and fortune-telling. __________________ Check out the A. workshop ideas
I would come to a tarot conference in Oregon. I live in Olympia, WA. I could come up with a workshop or two. Are you thinking late June? |
