Stone
I think the best stone for your son will find him... or he will find it.... take him with you.... then you will know because it will be shown.

So many great ideas...thank you all! I think I will take him with us. We were thinking of going on Friday while he's at school, but I think taking him will be better. I'm going to mention a few stones to him and see if he's interested in any of them before we go, so hopefully I can steer him towards a good one. I've been reading about moldavite and sugilite tonight, but I'm fairly certain I didn't see either of those in our local store. The bad part about the more rare stones that we're dealing with a 9-year-old that forgets his bookbag half the time. It's not that I would mind spending the money once if I thought he'd keep up with the stone, but I don't want to it spend it over and over and over again! lol

just a small note that may perhaps be of interest to you, Moldavite seems - um - very strong, many people do not feel comfortable using it...it's very - raw, and powerful...imo... I think Winterchild was right, I have often said the stones pick you, and not the other way round! good luck on your trip with your son to the crystal store. Odds are he will want one you never even thought of, and that not one of us here suggested and it will probably turn out to be the right one, after all ♥

Thanks for clarifying the issues you and your wonderful young man are facing with back-to-school. I agree that since he already seems very open and involved with natural rocks that you should take him with you and let him explore and choose at least a few for himself. All crystals have wonderful healing properties and as several have already said, they WILL choose him once he comes in contact with them and they "read" what he needs. I really think it would be a great idea to get him involved in the study of crystals for healing...there is a lot of sciencey stuff behind it! There is nothing wrong with him doing a "rotation" crystal study like many of us here do and test which ones he feels help most, with what, and why. It would be awesome if he also kept some sort of journal about his experiences to refer back to and learn from. I know you are interested in finding "the" crystal to assist him right away, but you may find that the best course for him is to explore and experience which ones attract him most and he can be in control of his own path of wholeness and his own daily journey. __________________ ~wildchilde "It is a mathematical fact that the casting of this pebble from my hand alters the center of gravity of the universe." -Thomas Carlyle |

So we made it to the rock store this weekend, and my son picked these three stones: - a tiger iron marble - a shaman's stone, also known as a moqui ball - a tumbled amazonite I'm going to read up on the tiger iron and the shaman's stone, as I'm completely unfamiliar with both of them. I'm glad he also picked the amazonite b/c I know that would be a good pick for him, if the others aren't quite was I was thinking as far as something to take to school with him everyday. I liked the idea of a piece of jewelry he could wear, but most things there were so darned feminine! Thanks for all of the help, and if anyone wants to offer opinions on the stones he picked, please feel free to advise me! I'm going to do my own research as well, but it's always nice to hear advice. (Side note- I picked up a shaman's stone and a large piece of selenite for myself. I was quite drawn to the shaman's stone when we saw them. I tend to be drawn to the raw, earthy looking ones.) |

Moqui ball is a trademarked name, so if you can't find information under that or shaman's stone you might also try maqui ball as that is another name given to them. __________________ ♠♦♦"We are quicksilver, a fleeting shadow, a distant sound. Well of course I am ecstatic that he chose the Amazonite for himself! I think it will be a great stone for him to use. I am also very impressed that he chose for his other two picks a grounding stone and another for spiritual expansion. For the Shaman's stone did he get just one or the set? Curious whether he picked the male or female, or if the set what he might like to do with them. It seems as though with these choices he has ensured that he will be cleansed, protected, and in contact with his spirit guides. Most of all, though, I am so happy for you both that you were able to share this experience (and hopefully more) with the crystals and that he was confident and supported by you so that he could make his own choices and feel powerful in that decision. As an aside, I will be posting my etsy store link for healing jewelry in the ads hopefully sometime this week. Please keep an eye out for it as I would be honored to create something specifically for him if you are interested in doing so. __________________ ~wildchilde "It is a mathematical fact that the casting of this pebble from my hand alters the center of gravity of the universe." -Thomas Carlyle |

Can't wait for a link to your etsy shop, well if you will ship to the UK! Sounds like you had a lot of fun with your son, and that he intuitively knew what he needed

I think your son was chosen by some pretty interesting crystals, Swedishfish! It will be interesting to see how they work for him - I hope you'll keep us posted! @Wildchilde, congrats on your new Etsy store - can't wait to see your creations! __________________ L' éssentiel est invisible pour les yeux. - Antoine de St-Exupéry, Le Petit Prince. Oooh, that would be so cool! I will definitely think about it and check out your shop. I've been distracted by my Tarot decks this week, but I need to get around to researching the stones he picked! |
