Gambling, however, is pure chance.
Marlo - I look at your question this way (and I agree with closrapexa) - Tarot is symbology and archetypes - these deal with the magnitude of human dealings.

Getting the winning lottery numbers ... that is a math, chance, and probability.

Not trying to start a meta-discussion here, but I did work in a casino for 5 years ... if you want to win big bucks - go play the table games - 21, Baccarat, even craps; wasting your time at the nickel slot machines expecting to be able to finance your own private island ...? Nickel slots will pay out, but nothing overwhelming.

Thanks a lot for your tips tarotbear

I'm a scientist, i need facts and theories to give explanations and produce knowledge but i keep an open-mind on everything especially about phenomena that haven't been theorized yet.

That's why i'm convinced that it's possible to combine "occult" and sciences even if it can be a great challenge...

Well, just to update; I used my Voices of the Saints on Friday to choose my lottery numbers and I've just discovered I won one of the smaller prizes!

Out of 13 possible prizes, I won the 11th prize (not a massive amount but a little something).

I used the cards to predict 5 numbers plus the two bonus numbers. I got three of the numbers correct with my LoS Saints cards!

I'll keep trying. Maybe next week...

That's a good start, probably the Saints listened to you this time Let's hope they will keep doing it.

Do you simply ask questions about numbers while shuffling your cards or do you have your personal and secret ritual ? The ritual of the lottery... that would sound great.

If I was deck of cards with a conscious mind, a free will and devine powers, then I would surely reveal next week's lottery numbers just to show off my abilities Or in case I would find those questions inappropriate I might sulk and refuse to reveal anything to my owner who is unwilling to focus on the things that really matter.

I mean, it's interesting that most people here actually seem to agree that tarot does not work in cases like this where the probabilistic nature of the things to predict is obvious and predictive power can easily be analysed emirically. Which is what lottery companies carfully do of course. It wouldn't go unnoticed if the winning number combinations were chosen more frequently than non-winning combinations. They are surely less afraid of tarot readers, but of fraudsters who try to manipulate the proccess of drawing the lottery numbers.

That seems to be undisputed so far. But if tarot really is a tool of divination (as opposed to a tool of intuituion that reveals things from the reader's or querrent's unconscious) what difference would the sort of question make? Such a difference would only be plausible if the cards really were conscious and had their own opinions.

There is a good example from the scientist's point of view. Recently phyisicists an CERN measured neutrinos to be faster than light (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Faster-...utrino_anomaly). The statistical significance of the results was overwhelming. I guess the people at CERN do not lack open-mindedness since they perfectly know that their theories are incomplete. But still they did not come up with a big scoop like "relativity refuted", but rather asked the scientific commutiy to help them find their mistake. The reason for them being so humble was that it wasn't about their own experiment only, but about the last 100 years of empirical research about relativity all over the world, all of which had reliably confirmed relativity and stood against their results. This in mind it was not surprising that they finally found their mistake.

One can come up with quite a similar argument regarding the "occult" which is mostly being explained (if it is eplained at all) by some energy flow between the tarot cards (or any other tool of divination) and the things people want to gain knowledge about. Energy or not, it must be SOMETHING that carries the information from the things we want to know to the tarot cards. But this SOMETHING is completely invisible to any other measuring device. And the last 500 years of scientific research have simply failed to even discover this SOMETHING, not to mention drawing information from it. All the scientific research can hardly be worth much if it keeps missing such a central thing.

So IMHO if you believe in the occult, you don't believe in science and vice versa.

Luckily it's only your opinion.

I actually won a Flax (good luck) card in Norway worth 5000Nkr once, I got the cards Star and the Ace/pents RX from the Vanessa and saw "money from heaven" in them and went right away and bought that winner ticket. Lucky me.

I think Vanessa Tarot/Whimsical can be cool to use on horse betting too. What in the images could be translated to the winner horses name, I wonder.

Whether *tarot* is "about" personal energies, spiritual pursuits, or what have you:
The *stars* implacably govern all things, and *they* can't even tell you the winning lottery numbers.

Well the stars can tell you when you are in a better position to win the lottery (like jupiter conjunct venus, jupiter trine venus, jupiter conjunct uranus etc. etc.) ... as can numbers (using only certain dates and time to lodge/buy your ticket). You only have to match the frequency of the reality you want to obtain it.

IMO you cannot win the lottery if the energy frequency at the time of playing the lottery is incompatible with your own energy signature ... this is why tarot won't give you the winning numbers, not because it cannot.
