searching the forums
i know there must be a thread about this somewhere, but I can't find it. ![]() When I want to search for something, I enter the search words where I'm supposed to. Sometimes I put them in quotes. Regardless, the forum seems to search for every thread with any of the words instead of any thread with all the words, and invariably I get a message that there are too many results to list. Also, is there a way to search just thread titles? Is there a way to indicate which post in the thread contains the info I am looking for? |

Under "search" hit the "advanced search" option. This will allow you to specify that your search term(s) are to refer only to the thread titles. HTH. |

To amplify what Aviorwolf said, when you click Search, right at the bottom of the box are the clickable words "Advanced Search. When you use that screen check carefully, there are a number of options including 'search by thread' or 'search by post'. You can specify a user name or not. The searched words will show up in red, but the exact post, no. Also, again, look at the screen that comes up in Advanced Search. Right at the top is Google search bar. You can use that to search the forums using regular Google operators, like quote marks, plus signs and etc. __________________ Either the Darkness alters, or something in the sight Adjusts itself to Midnight, And Life steps almost straight. ~ Emily Dickinson |

And as a word of warning - if you put the word 'tarot' in your search it screws everything up! LOL! Since virtually every thread or post will contain the word 'tarot' the filtering system goes crazy! __________________ I don't lead the parade - I AM THE PARADE! This is not rocket surgery, ya know! Advanced Search Still Doesn't Help
I'm trying to find previous posts comparing and contrasting the Seven of Wands and the Five of wands. I'm sure I'm not the first person to want some clarification. But even when I use advanced search, it's discarding the seven and five and showing me 1000 threads about wands. Is there any way to find previous information, or do I need to start a new thread? |

The only work around I can think of for that is to go to Advanced Search, and restrict the time period of the search. Say, only the last week or month. __________________ Either the Darkness alters, or something in the sight Adjusts itself to Midnight, And Life steps almost straight. ~ Emily Dickinson |

Did you try using the Google Search bar right at the top (on the Advanced Search page). Sometimes it is a lot better than the forum search engine. __________________ Either the Darkness alters, or something in the sight Adjusts itself to Midnight, And Life steps almost straight. ~ Emily Dickinson |
