In Deck of the Week you can use a tarot deck AND an Oracle deck and you can comment in this thread on your findings and your explorations with both of your chosen decks each week. If you want to post Daily Draws of your Oracle Readings there is no separate Deck of the Week thread set up for that - but there is nothing to stop you setting up your own Oracle Daily Draw thread...

Thank you, Elendil, for explaining that.

This deck is so much fun to read! Robyn's style of art reminds me of Granny Jones. I love these people and their expressions, and interesting little details pop out every time I spread the cards.

This morning, I'm appreciating the individual borders drawn for each card, as well as the easy size of the deck and matte finish -- so nice to shuffle!
Madame Squee, I do like Chronata's Minute Tarot so much myself! I can see what you mean about feeling like you are on vacation.

I drew three cards today from the Steampunk tarot, the Hanged Man, the Emperor, and the Ace of Swords.

I have chosen to do some reading in the book by Barbara Moore. I do really like her companion book!

I found it interesting that all three of these cards dealt with order, or at least Barbara's book addresses this. The Emperor, associated with the number 4, has to do with stability and reliability. In this card, he sits solidly in his chair.

The Ace of Swords is connected with the word "logos" which means (among other things) words, reasons, order, and knowledge. Quoting from the book: "As the great bard said, there is nothing either good nor bad, but thinking makes it so."

I found the reading very insightful. Also the card imagery is lush and imaginative and really lends itself to intuitive readings. Plus the cards feel good in the hand when shuffling.

I had a horrible weekend and didn't touch my deck until yesterday. The Wheel of Change is interesting. I haven't read the book (OMG it is HUGE). But just thumbing through the cards, it seems like the deck is quite varied. Though I have heard that it is a bit fem-centric. Haven't experienced that yet, so I am keeping an open mind.

The artwork is pleasing and I like the backs - simple . The 3 of Swords is really touching to me - it is 3 large saws (old fashioned style) hanging over a very large cut tree. You can see that the land has been clear cut. But what really got me was that all around there were signs of new life - seedlings growing, ferns, a little bird.

Interesting deck. The draw yesterday was very cool. And it said it all with the pictures.

Truth-seekers tarot is interesting, I had forgotten it had moody minors rather than fully illustrated pips. Quite pretty, too with the gold foil. I have found it nicely accurate so far this week.

Had the opportunity to do a general reading for my mother just now. No question was asked and I didn't even use card positions. Just pulled three cards.

The Ten of Pentacles, The Emperor, and the Knight of Cups.

My mom is about to embark on two trips. One she told me about right before the reading, but the other she had not mentioned. The one she had not mentioned is going back "home" to visit her sister and very large extended family. I think that is what the Ten of Pentacles and Knight of Cups (in this deck it is female) may represent. The Emperor could represent her brother, whom she will see on that trip, or it could represent a physician she is seeing tomorrow -- something she neglected to tell me until after the reading!

Also, in this deck the Emperor is wearing a monacle, which somehow makes him look like a doctor.

It was an interesting reading. Some other things emerged as well.

That's twice the Emperor has shown up ...

Tea Leaf Fortune Cards

I want to chat some about the Tea Leaf Fortune Cards, my oracle for the week.

In particular, I want to discuss my annual spread. I have just recently received this deck and I am really very pleased with it! The cards are such a great size for handling and reading. The images are easily read and I like the words on the cards. I am not reading these intuitively, as the meanings are very plain and blunt (as read on the card, which is the way I am reading them).

There are more in-depth meanings in the book.

For August I have four cards.

Dark Man: Dealings or relationship with a man with dark complexion or hair. Well, my first thought after my dryer broke this weekend is that this may be a repair technician. Or could it be the cable technician that is coming? I seem to need a lot of home repairs lately.

Jug - Lighthearted, carefree time.

Kite - Vacation. The kite image consists of a fish. The book mentions that this can also be a "mental" vacation and goes into more depth as to the meanings of this card.

Teapot - Deep friendship with someone of the same sex. - There are a couple of people I have been out of touch with ... I wonder if we are going to reconnect?

Eep!

I just looked at your blog, Elendil, and I want them!

These are cards are simply beautiful in your hands. Nothing like the complexity I feared.

Even though I suspect my reaction may be due more to your style of reading than the cards themselves, I definitely have an inclination to get them and see if I can get as much out of them.
