In my defence I was going thru a phase of travelling light & this wasn't the only deck to suffer.
My first Aquarian deck fell victim to decoupage and I've given several away, but the Felicita one is the only one that seems irreplaceable.

Live & Learn. It had two glorious seasons of reading at festivals at least
Another horror story. Be assured that many people are suffering vicariously as they read your post.

When you say "live and learn," what did you learn? To resign yourself to the fact that you will never be a person who lives with few possessions? That tarot is a sacrosanct category for you, one you'll never again breach?

I'm an atheist, but when I was Christian I was told that things like Tarot cards and ouija boards were evil in and of themselves. We were told that they were tools of the devil. So from that standpoint, holding onto the would be unacceptable, because you shouldn't be inviting evil into your home. And selling them would be just as bad, because the only thing worse than owning your own slice of evil is selling (and profiting from selling) evil to someone else and tainting their life with it.

Granted not all religious people, and not all Christians, were taught that way, but that was how it was taught to me. And so that might be the way some others would have seen it.

I grew up in a fundamentalist home and sort of was one myself (not to the extent of my family) into early adulthood and given that my family, especially my mother, are genuinely concerned for the souls/eternal life of strangers, this is the reason I anticipate they/she would object to selling tarot decks. They would not want to be accomplices to other people's damnation.

Actually, I could see my mother selling them in order to transmit religious tracts and books that she would pack in with the deck, as a means of reaching out to occultists and possibly helping save them from hellfire.

I can't think of any I wish I hadn't got rid of. But then of course I can't even remember all the ones I've got rid of. Is this a good thing? Does it mean I live in the moment? I'm going to take it that way.

I don't have any I regret getting rid of because I have every deck I have ever gotten. I do have some decks that I am not so crazy about, but I fear if I get rid of them I'll regret it. LOL I have been known to change my mind about things!

This is so me. I was given a deck as a gift, and it is so not my style. I've barely even looked at it in years, and never read with it. And yet I keep it. I worry I might change my mind someday even though I doubt I will.

I'm glad there is someone else like me, Juliana. I do enjoy looking at them even if I never use them in a reading. We are indeed alike.

yeah XD That's the problem though sometimes, like I am starting to not feel bad about getting rid of the Gilded (Have to see for accuracy in old posts), but it stinks because if you love the artwork you will be like, WOW I WANT IT! and it may not just work for you.

I was recommended Crystal Visions. Hopefully I will be able to connect to it. I am going to give away the Gilded Tarot an Giant RWS (I feel I may connect with the RWS, but I have small hands, so i can't really shuffle the cards :/ but I would love to trade either deck or both for a RW Radiant or just regular RW!)

I know whatcha mean when you go through a phase where you just throw cards out. When I feel like my life is in the crapper and nothing is working, i get impulsive and throw things out D: (I'm not a hoarder thankfully but I just hate how I obsessively get rid of some things, do I regret everything I got rid of? No, just some things but sometimes I wish i was able to look at the thing again and think harder in deciding to get rid of it). (It annoys my parents LOL)

<grits teeth>

(can somebody please change the title of this thread: It should be "decks you wish you hadn't got rid of." It bothers me.)
