Missy, just buy the damn deck, OK?You'll never really know until you get it. If you don't like the typeface on on edition, you can get the other. They're not rare. __________________ " 'Tis an ill wind that blows no minds" Raven Kaldera * "I am NEVER off-topic" * ~Lillie~ |

Once I SAW that ... that ... that THING ... ... I mean, what else can one call it ... is it a CARD REALLY? It's grotesque! It's horrid! I couldn't look at it for more than a few seconds ... I would almost be tempted to remove it from the deck. Don't know if I have ever felt that way about any tarot card before! ![]() At any rate, IF I buy the thing, I'll figure it out! But it is a horrid card! __________________ LOL I:1. Oh hai. In teh beginnin Ceiling Cat maded teh skiez An da Urfs, but he did not eated dem. |

I bought the AG Muller/USG version a couple of weeks ago, and decided I really wanted the FX Schmid version for comparison purposes (I like the funky "handwritten" look) so it's on the way. 10 of Swords... it was my very first draw. It's not sugar coated, that's for sure... but it doesn't give me nightmares, either. There are other decks -- Deviant Moon, anyone? -- that would give me nightmares and that's why I don't own them. The Cosmic is more of a jab in the ribs than a poke in the eye.

I love the deck and use it quite a bit. I like the colors. It gave me a much clearer understanding of some cards, like the 7 of pentacles or the 5 of wands. Yes that 10 of swords is a doozy - I think it conveys the feeling quite well. Wanting to look away is a natural reaction to the suffering inherent in the 10 of swords! I love the 2 of cups in this deck - I just love it! Next to my Thoth I use this one most often, and I use the Cosmic to read for others. I think the colors in the two decks compliment each other nicely, so occasionally I will work them together. Just my two cents! Best wishes... |

Oh and just an update, further to a number of posts above. After following this thread, I got my Cosmic out and gave it a bit more of my attention this week. I have to say, I am in love with this deck like I never was before. The colours, the intricate background details and the Courts (which I have found, in reading, that they work so well). The mood and the accessible symbolism, for some reason this time they have grabbed me like never before. I'm not too keeen on the 10 of Swords just because I think it sems overdone and melodramatic compared with the rest of the deck - which is so subtle. But this is such a lovely deck if you really, really allow yourself to get drawn into the symbolism. I say this so rarely about a deck but if you lay it out and really read with it, you find it is very easy to read. Meanings come quite effortlessly. Plus that 80s vibe is so comforting. |

But, sorry, I just don't get an 80's vibe from this deck at all. Having been an adult very young woman in the 80's these cards do not bring back any memories of that time. I don't even think I can pinpoint a time period to this deck. It's sort of otherworldly to me.
