I have been passionate about tarot since I was a kid. It started out for me as a way to tap into my intuition more reliably. I might not have been able to say it just like that, but that was what I wanted. ![]() Later I became interested in the history of tarot, and the art. There are so many reasons to be passionate about it, each thing builds on the other. It's been part of my life for almost 40 years, and one of the few passions that haven't faded over time. (Books being one of the others.) __________________ *Ad Astra* |

Thou art that. The identity of the subjective and the objective. Tarot is, among other things, a model of the human being. It is a path of self knowledge, which leads to awareness of the ultimate reality, one's supernal origin. "When you come to know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will realize that you are the children of the living Father." [Gospel of Thomas] The role of Tarot in the redemption from exile (forgetfulness) is certainly something to be "passionate" about. |

I know it may be unbelievable but Tarot changed my life ever since I learned it. It sharpened my intuition, it increased my knowledge of history, philosophy, mythology, mysticism and psychology because everytime i study a deck, i am compelled to read and research. It helped me make new friends because i read for them and help them when they have problems, and unfortunately, I don't have that many friends because I am quite introverted. I consult it in making decisions and they always come out right. I also use it as a doorway to talk to God or at least find out how he thinks (I'm Catholic). In short, i haven't encountered a single moment where I felt that the tarot failed me. It does restore my equilibrium. |

Thank you, everyone, for your thoughts. Hearing about what speaks to others about Tarot is deepening my passion for it as well. :-) VGimlet and Poopsie, I also feel like Tarot has helped me trust my intuition more, although that took some time to develop. It's something I'm still working on. I agree, LRichard, that Tarot reflects deep spiritual truths. I'm also passionate about it because it helps me get in harmony with the rhythm of the Universe. I unfortunately was raised by parents who felt very threatened by anything they couldn't control, so that was my model for dealing with the unexpected, to try to control it as much as possible. Tarot has helped me deal better with that and flow with the rhythm of life. For instance, I was hit yesterday with some unfair rules at work. It was tempting to slip into victim mentality, but thankfully I worked through that by reminding myself that the situation is what it is, that I'm choosing to remain in it for various reasons, and that my actions in response to the rules are part of where I need to be right now. Note that my daily reading reflected this whole situation, advising me to deal with the King of Swords, reversed (desire to over-control, in this case) within me so that I can transform into The Magician, i.e., channel my energy and initiative wisely. It's illuminations like this that help fuel my passion for Tarot. Your responses do a lot for me, everyone, so thank you for sharing! Blessings, Rainbow __________________ Before we can know the light, we must know the darkness. |

Anyone remember those old Apple Jacks commercials? Adult: Why do you like these? They don't even taste like real apples! Kids: We just do Well, that's my answer. I could go on and on about symbolism, history, a deep seated interest in the supernatural/occult, but at the end of the day, why do I like Tarot so much? I don't know. I just do. |

I am passionate about tarot because it teaches me so much. I started out being attracted to the art, which I still enjoy. But I stayed because there is so much wisdom in the cards. __________________ I am who I take the time to become. |

What's not to love? ![]() But seriously, I love how it makes a person think, to look inside themselves and beyond themselves. How it makes a person grow and be happy that it's always a learning process even years down the road. and even just asking the cards how to solve a problem or dilemma provides so many angles otherwise not even thought of. Its like a beloved book that never ends and is always fascinating to read |

I have recently discovered the Thoth Tarot and I just love it. The main reason for this is that once I discovered it structure, it's layers and it's intricacies it all started to feel very familiar. Another reason for my passion is the fact that I can already see it's uses as an instrument to deconstruct one's own self - in an abstract/metaphysical kind of way. __________________ "Know thy Self, and ye shall know the Universe and the Gods themselves." |

For me, its the mystery of it all. Just how does Tarot "know"?! First time i read for myself, it was just amazing, and on the money. Im fascinated with how it works, how could shuffling cards, and choosing cards, tell me so much about something i was going through? For me, its all about connecting with my Spirit. Im a visual person, and I have never really experienced anything paranormal. So for me, the visual of the cards, is kind of my "paranormal" experience, in that I get to choose to see what I want, when I want. Now the longer I read, the more I want to learn. What do all the symbols and color mean, and where did this all come from. Who did the first reading and what was it like? These cards just grab my attention
