The things I missed in this deck - after 28 years of looking!!

I hadn't noticed the sickles before. I'm trying to figure them out. The butterflies are representations of Sylphs, which are Air Elementals, but the sickles are a mystery, so far.

The Prince of Swords in the Thoth deck has a sickle too. There might be a connection there.

Interesting. Here is what Crowley says: "The operation of his [the Prince's] logical mental processes have reduced the Air, which is his element, to many diverse geometrical patterns, but in these there is no real plan; they are demonstrations of the powers of the Mind without definite purpose. In his right hand is a lifted sword wherewith to create, but in his left hand a sickle, so that what he creates he instantly destroys." - The Book of Thoth

ETA. According to this, I guess we can think of swords and sickles as the creative and destructive powers of the mind. It can come up with new ideas and just as easily dispose of them, the Prince (Air of Air) being an extreme example of this.
