Palmistry. I want to learn but I find mixed messages. What do you know?
I've looked up online trying to jot down some notes so I can learn and one day palm read but every site I go to gives me information that's different from another site. So I'm not sure what to go by and learn. Which hand do you read? Where's the heart, fate line, etc? I'd appreciate any knowledge you guys would have on this. I'm dying to learn. I want to be able to read the possibilities of ones hand. I've heard so many stories about people getting their palms read and them coming true. I'm planning on taking a class on it but I want ti have some "before-hand" knowledge. But in a way I kind of want to learn on my own through some "world-wide" help. Anything is appreciated!!! __________________ It is what it is. |

Things I've found to be standard are this: you read the dominant writing hand, this is your life as it is now; I think the story goes that the other hand is who we are inside and our wishes and desires. Who we see or would rather see ourselves as, versus who we are in the world. The heart line is usually the strongest line (of varying sizes) horizontal at the top of the palm, the head line is below this, the life line arcs around the palm from one side down to the wrist; the fate line is a vertical line found to the right of the life line (not always) - and I realize my descriptions probably suck, but yeah! I've been studying palms for a decade, and I still learn new things all the time. Even my own palm is a partial mystery to me with new things that have appeared! __________________ Dragonfly, Dragonfly, take me on your wings and pierce the illusions binding my life... I've only had my palm read once, and I can't really explain her thought process but I can describe it. First she asked my to hold out my hands and relax them, she then stared at them, and then chose a hand to read. For me it was my right hand, for my cousin it was her left, and we are both right handed so I don't know how she chose. She never mentioned life or love, but she focused quite a bit on emotions and matters of the home. I've tried learning before but I always give up on trying to find out which "shape" my hand is. Haha lemme know how it goes, I'm quite interested. __________________ I will stand at the gate of the kingdom I will speak my faith Next to the killer and the Christian True to myself I know my fate |

Shapes can be tricky! There are marriage and relationship lines; but I tend to ignore those, though I find them accurate and applicable for most, they're also rather difficult. The heart line is emotions; the head line is our mental process; the life line is our vitality/health/life as a whole, the fate line reflects our destiny, I suppose - meaning where it ends tends to show us where we put our energy (creative art, leadership, etc). Urgh, so much information. __________________ Dragonfly, Dragonfly, take me on your wings and pierce the illusions binding my life... I always seem to be reviving old threads... Are there any members out there who want to discuss Palmistry? I've been studying it for quite a while now, and, as mentioned above, while there is varying info out there, I've found that not much of it is fully contradictory. Most professional palm readers will tell you that the Life Line indicates Vitality, not life span. The heart line represents your emotional energy, rather than indication the appearance of a new lover.... Any other Palmists out there? What kind of information have you found? |

I am still a beginner in palmistry, even though I have studied it off and on for 20 years. (I can fake it pretty well!) Find a decent book, and memorize the details...and then it's all about practice...find any and every random person you can and compare palms. Because I have found that unlike tarot, you can't really study this on your own. The art demands that you see as many hands as you can so you can see the differences and similarities in the patterns and shapes, and you can start to really get what makes the basic lines so accurate. Once you have basics down(hand shape and line shape/depth)...then it's onto finger lengths, mounds, skin discolorations, and geometric shapes within lines. I have discovered that you can be amazingly intuitive with palmistry too...sometimes I will blurt out something (oh! You are former military!) and I don't even know why... As for books... http://www.madamcarolyn.com/store.htm This woman is awesome and I love her book because it made things sort of click into place for me. __________________ Out Of Body...Back in 5 Minutes |

Thanks! Ill look into getting her book or tape. I have several books, and have largely relied on memorization and cross-referencing to learn. I recommend reading for family and close friends at first, people you know a lot about. For example, I did a reading for my mother, and I know that she went from being a computer sciences professional to an artist at about age 40. Because of this, her fate line had a sizable and distinct break between the head and heart line (middle age). So, because I knew that already, it wad easier to interpret . |

I can't find it now but once went through a wonderful website which has each line and asks you to choose how each line looks and then gives you reading at the end. it was useful for learning. can't find it on google now. there is lots of great websites as well as books about it! |
