Dragon Tarot Study Group - 3 of Coins
Following some of the trends in other groups, I pulled a daily card to study it. 3 of coins. the image I see is of dragon on its hind legs walking down a forest path in the moonlight. My first impression was that he may be lost in the woods or just enjoying the serene quiet of a moonlit forest. The pamphlet says this card means learning new abilities and developing new skills. I look at the card again and i see that most of the other dragons in the other cards are either flying or on all fours. This one has learned to walk on two legs. I've certainly learned something. I'm learing to read tarot.

I see it more as an old man walking through the forest. He's lost but has a guiding light to keep him heading in the right direction. The way he has his head bent down speaks of humility. I suppose I see it as an old man because of the way his right arm is positioned, it looks like there ought to be a cane in his hand. Can't quite figure out the significance of the trees' colors being faded in the middle while very pronounced on the sides. Anyone have some ideas? |

The feel I get from this scene is like walking on tip-toes. Choosing his way around & through the possible obstacles in the path. Or looking at it from a ballet point of view, it takes a lot of hard work to get things right and perform in your toe-shoes. ETA: What is the name of the maze or labyrinth shown on each of the coins? I'm pretty sure I've seen it on jewelry or in some sort of kit where you trace your way through it with a pen/stylus. I do like this as a general suit symbol. I have a hard time reconciling money/materialism only type of meanings. If the maze is representing some type of life learning or defining your values based on experiences, then I really like this! The number 3 speaks to me of picking up a variety of choices from the vendor's stall. No two customers will "value" the item in the same manner. Both sides have to use some creativity as they bicker and barter on an acceptable price. Last edited by cardlady22; 14-04-2009 at 08:35. Reason: maze? |

Sun: Male energy, but it also beams out like the lantern of the Hermit. Only here the Hermit is not an outsider as much as he is the "would-be" leader whom chooses distance to avoid being placed on the back burner. His arm is extended and fingers down as if carrying the lantern. More direct reference to our hermit. Drake: The Drakes legs are very powerful from the long journey taken to get to this realization of self. His legs are also highly symbolic of his fertility, an indirect reference to the Empress. Only he will provide the best seed. The Drakes neck is curved around in a mirror image of the fools. Though referencing the fool, this drake does not blindly play the harp into the underworld, but does so; more intentionally, looking for reactions or results. Also this drake should take care not to rely too much on others opinions, unlike the fool who is completely carefree. Clever and crafty, this Drake has a plan for success. Forest: This is the myriad of people, places, projects, plans that you have lain before you. You can see more clearly what you want, and may want more than you can handle. The forest is a bit like an audience to your deeds. Threes: All about the neutralization of the poles in Alchemy. Cup in the Drakes wings - Wand from the branches of the trees under the sun - Crystal ball just past the Drakes extended hand on the path, is an indirect reference to the Magician. Only here the Drake is forging threes together to create optimal outcomes; as opposed to understanding the natural combinations of threes. Sapling: The helping hand that is always present. Helping stabilize and ground you. Reversed: Be careful that you don’t over-plan, and loose sight of yourself, or your goals. Don’t over seek others approvals for your plans, you could help yourself out of the whole project or goal. And too much rushing about to complete a goal can lead to missed details and ruin the whole thing, and you along with it. |
