Four of Wands and Three of Cups Rx
Hi all - I got these two cards next to one another as in someone's intentions. The 4/wands has traditionally meant (to me) that giddy, absolute and loving communication that you only get to experience so often with another person. If ever. Total happiness. 3/cups Rx is the affair card am I right? Could it means anything else. As always, thanks so much for interpretations

hmm. I found this one interesting. Definitely a little tricky. If this is a new relationship, is it possible that they, or you, would be interested in a menage a trois? Or perhaps a pregnancy or a child is suggested? What I am sensing, is that there will be a surprise, but it will be a happy one. Perhaps you will meet someone with whom you really connect through this first person. Perhaps you become part of a larger social group as a result of your friendship with this individual. It is hard to say without more knowledge of the situation. Are any of these making any sense at all? |

I got child or pregnancy because the four of wands is a very positive card. It suggests a surprise -- but a positive one. The 3 of cups reversed suggests a third person in a relationship. It seems to me that the combination of these two cards might suggest a relationship changed by a third person in a positive way, for example, the birth of a child, meeting a new potential partner or what have you... it was all I could think of that might be both surprising, but also positive? I suppose in the sense you've given, it could also mean that his intention is to widen his social group through interractions with you? |

Under the circumstances you're asking about, I'd say that the 4 of Wands is the sitting down to talk and get closure and the 3 of Cups is the moving on into life that involves a circle of friends and happy times again after the closure of the talking. __________________ Check out the A. 3 Cups is joyfulness and companionship, I'm not quite sure what to make of it reversed, especially relating it to someone's intent. I can see it a couple ways, that they want something solid and exclusive, without all the social fun and games, as in no fun and games with anyone else... or the foundation of the relationship is set and it's not turning out to be fun or joyful or not what they wanted in a companion. __________________ If you can't be a good example - - then you will just have to be a horrible warning |

I agree that this is a tricky one. I think you actually summed it up pretty nicely. It looks like getting some closure on a friendship that wasn't working out. Perhaps they feel that all of the parties involved have worn out their welcome. With the energy of the 3 being reversed, they see no more fun to be had, "created," or all was already said and done. Maybe a good time was spoiled, but they are looking to stay on good terms with you, mutual closure. The cards seem to reassure you that when you do this it will go well. If you haven't communicated for months I would also go back to your original interpretation that read it as affairs and third parties involved. Maybe they are taking a new partnership that has developed during the time away, to the next level of commitment as the 4 of Wands often represents engagement or a similar notion, and their intentions lie in the reality that you should both see and date others (3 of cups rx). The blend of the pair seems to acknowledge (7-Chariot) that they believe you both are moving on for better gains. It seems like they have good intentions, best of luck with it. This is going to sound like remedial tarot 101....but, maybe it means he will stay in his marriage (4 wands) and will not stray out of it (3 cups rx) __________________ When the moon is a counterfeit, better find the one that fits. Better find the one that lights the way for you ~Beck |

3 Cups reversed is not ALWAYS an 'affair' indicator! LOL!!!! I though it was an odd combo since the 4 wands is something celebratory, and the 3 Cups upright is also considered celebratory, so a card of celebration followed by a reversed card of celebration ... ? It could refer to people at a party falling down dead drunk, or at least leaving them with incomplete thought capacities. I do agree, tho, that following a card of stability that the RX 3 Cups could indicate three is a crowd ... Just my two cents ... __________________ I don't lead the parade - I AM THE PARADE! Taking these cards together (without benefit of how any other cards in the spread may affect them), I'd say his intention is to celebrate *whatever* (4 Wands) to the point of over-indulgence (3 Cups, rx.) i.e. whatever you are asking about regarding his intentions may not be much deeper to him than a few (too many) drinks would cover. But, of course, this could be way out of context to the rest of your spread or the situation you are asking about. __________________ I never bend, fold, or mutilate. Unless I'm in a hurry. |
