Yes, that was a great thread. I think it would be great if you got it going again, shelikes2read!

Dangers:

Eyestrain, headache, sudden and unexplained energy loss, second guessing yourself. These are the big things that I noticed on occassion.

I will admit, around my third time I kept ... "feeling" something that wasn't supposed to be there, something malevolent and did a LBRP to clear the air. Circled and shielded and continued.

Just relax and try to enjoy seeing anything, it took a try or two before I started to see the "afterimages" forming for me and if I was in a hurry or "expecting" an image they became more elusive

Look - I'm no expert here, but sometimes I think that people expect that scrying in a mirror, crystal ball, etc is supposed to be like a pilantir in LOTR or the screen on your latest electronic handheld gizmo - all clear and distinct in full color HD with stereophonic sound .... it's not. Sometimes is mere outlines or cloudy images - sort of like reading tea leaves.

I'm sure there ARE those that get full color HD with stereophonic sound ... but I am not one of them. All I get is commercials for the latest Quidditch equipment ....

Another thing with scrying--I've noticed that often I don't see anything beyond clouds in my ball, but I will have really vivid dreams that often turn out to be true. So pay attention to those as well.

I have a ton of crystal balls. My favourite is a 60mm obsidian one--not for the faint of heart.

Yes, generally TB, all people do get are fuzzy outlines/cloudy images. I have at times gotten very distinct pictures--but far and few between. My daughter says the same thing for her. I think this is very common.

btw, LOVE the cartoon!

I've also been hanging out at rock and gem shows since I was a kid. I've known a good chunk of the dealers 20? 25? years or so, so I can get good deals.

One of them told me long ago that if someone doesn't utter the magic phrase 'we can talk,' meaning we can haggle, walk away. Most dealers are willing to give you some sort of discount, esp. on the last day to avoid hauling stuff home. Crystal balls are quite heavy in bulk.

Look around. There are probably shops in your area that have some for a reasonable price. I've been building my collection for decades and I'm picky about what I buy. Don't expect to find the perfect ball overnight--hell, sometimes the best crystal to scry isn't a ball at all, but a block or a point. So don't limit yourself, look around, and find what stones and shapes speak to you most.

I think risks with anything like this is being careful what you wish for. If you're not prepared for what you're asking for, something to come through, then that could be an issue.

My scrying mirror

I took a few pix of my scrying mirror today for you ...

It was made for me as a gift. It is about 12 inches across. The person (with help it turns out -from my former partner) had to cut the opening with 9 sides. She blacked the glass herself, and I believe she also incorporated hair (she raided the brushes in the bathroom!) into the making. She then assembled and painted the wood, and did the decoration.

It resides wrapped in black silk when not in use.
