The Gift of A Scrying Ball
Greetings All Past Present and Future.. I would like to give a crystal ball/sphere as a gift to a friend as a gift. It will be the persons first crystal ball for scrying. I have heard and been told that the FIRST sphere should be aquired by the NOVICE and not received as a gift.. Any thoughts on this from other seers??? |

that idea is 100's of years old. That was a time of poor living standards. They idea was to give the gift to those that are skilled enough to read such divination. Because to do otherwise is to waste money. In today's time the production of crystal balls are much cheaper and can be given as a gift with no financial burden for the giver. So the wishy washy divination rules don't exist. It's only myth and misinterpretation |

There are a lot of "rules" that seem to have been made up for metaphysical items, including Tarot decks, such as whether a person should receive their first deck or scrying item as a gift vs. buying it for themselves. I never knew about any of these things when I was in my teens, so I just saved up my funds and bought the things I needed. They work just fine. Heck, my first scrying object was a clear glass marble. I was 15, I couldn't come close to affording an actual crystal ball, neither of lead crystal nor of quartz, I already owned the glass marble, and there was nobody around to tell me that I was crazy and it couldn't be done. So I went into the process presuming it'd work, and it did.In any event, my basic thought is that we don't need to follow any such guidelines regarding gifting vs. buying. Heck, I'm a big proponent of "there are no rules except to be ethical about using abilities -- other than that, if you presume something is going to work, then it's going to work." So If you want to give this person such a lovely gift as a scrying ball, I think it will be greatly appreciated and work beautifully for them. Remember, for scrying, as for tarot reading, the actual ability resides within the user, rather than in the tool. The tool's beauty (and, if it's a natural crystal of some sort, its energies) might help to boost the user's skills, because it resonates with the user and the connection s/he feels to the tool is that much stronger. But the actual ability is in the person doing the scrying or card reading. __________________ Argue for your limitations and sure enough, they're yours. -- Richard Bach Last edited by shelikes2read; 20-10-2012 at 03:48. |

All those 'rules' are a whole bunch of 'hooey' from days long ago (the 1950s) when one did not simply walk into a shop and buy a tarot deck (or anything else connected to WITCHCRAFT) from a large selection and take it to the counter. Those rules are from when such things were illegal, and you had to know where to go, do the secret handshake and knock 3 times and say 'Joe sent me' to prove you weren't the law coming to close the place. __________________ I don't lead the parade - I AM THE PARADE! I agree. myth and nonsense. I've purchased crystal balls for many people as gifts and they have never had an issue with it and have used said balls for scrying. I think it's a wonderful gift to give! |

i'd let the recipient pick it out because while crystal clear quartz might be traditional, alot of ppl like opaque or included balls or gravitate towards a specific thing. It would be frustrating for the recepient to learn to scry with something that may be in a material that doesnt resonate with them. But its so sweet that you'd get them a ball, youre a terrific friend! |
