Are 3 card spreads enough for any question?
In your opinion, is a 3 card spread enough for any question? I personally think that 3 card spreads are not too detailed that it could get confusing but not so simple that it feels like "things are missing". So, I basically like to do 3 cards for any question. |

For me, no. I use a few 3 card spreads for daily draws or very simple questions (along the line of "what does X think of me?"), but for anything a bit more involved, I prefer a spread, mostly around 5-7 cards. Blessings, MountainGirl |

To me, three-card spreads are plenty! There are many layers to any reading, and you can get so much from the juxtapositions of a three-carder that won't ever (in my experience) be as confusing--especially for a newer reader--as a larger spread has the potential of being. I always advise newer readers to stick with the smaller spreads...not only are they very valid, but will often get you more responses when you post them here in the forum for help. And that's nothing to sneeze at!

I'm a big fan of three-card spreads as well. There's so much variety within them! When I'm using a Marseille deck I will often draw extra cards to see where a sword is pointing to or what a character is looking at, which can give extra detail too. As far as spreads go I much prefer odd numbers of cards. I'm not sure why this is. Dawn

It really depends on you and the situation. I have had readings in which an entire CC didn't give me what I wanted, while other readings had only one card on a complex question and are still remembered by me as some of the best I have ever done. In any case I try to take as few as possible, forcing me to really delve into the card. __________________ "Many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view" Obi-wan Kenobi |

I like three card spreads, I find that they're flexible, don't take up much space, can be quick to read but if not aren't a pain to leave out for a bit. Probably my most used spread. Five can be good as well. dawntarot - I prefer an odd number of cards as well - 3, 5 or 9. Which is odd as I usually like everything to be in even numbers! |

Yes I think a three card spread is enough to answer any question, hell I think one card is enough ![]() I agree with this ^^^ you can read the cards basic meaning, the element, numeroligy, corresponding major, kabbalah, intuitive, astrology, there is absolutely loads you can get from just one card, so a three card in my opinion is more than enough

I vary the amounts of cards I use. Seven is my "magic number" most of the time. I use anywhere from one to ten cards---never more than ten. __________________ Check out the A. Nonny Mouse Thread! Most of my spreads are around 7 cards, but for simple questions I *love* a three-card spread. No need to complicate things when the question (and answer) are clear and concise. __________________ "I don't want whatever I want. Nobody does. Not really.
