Yes I have, very occasionally - for example someone I work with went away to stay with friends when she was pregnant and ended up in hospital with nobody really knowing what was wrong, I did a reading on her situation because I was worried. I think thats the only sort of time I would - if I was worried but unable to get more information because of distance or other circumstances. Luckily in that case the reading was positive and everything did turn out alright. |

It depends on who you ask. I don't believe there is but others seem to. I think it's the intent that matters and I think it also depends on whether you secretly feel it's wrong and in that case, your conscience would cause you bad repercussions. I consider myself a good Tarot reader. But there's no such thing as 100% accuracy and I'm not egotistical enough to think that every single thing I might see in the cards about someone would be 100% true. Therefore, why waste my time trying to "snoop" on them with the cards? I'm just not that interested. In reading for others, I trust myself highly, but in just reading to snoop, I wouldn't be so sure at all. I think my nefarious intent would probably screw up my "Tarot signal".

IF you believe in karma, it would depend on intent. __________________ Full cup, steady hand. Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing. Ah! People think about others a lot of the time. We are forever trying to understand others, get to know them better, work with them, get along with them, love them and so on. We don't ask for permission to do that. I don't see that reading for or about them is always much different from this. It IS a little presumptive of people to think that they have special 'magical' gifts through tarot that somehow give them special access to another individual's innermost secrets or motivations. Quite a few tarot reader struggle enough with projection anyway, and many don't even understand projection as a possible risk. If I read about another 'without his or her knowledge or consent' (a very rare thing now), I know quite clearly that I am really reading about myself - my own feelings, fears, concerns, curiosity, sense of obligation and so on. The cards might help clarify my OWN thinking, not open the door to the other's thinking or motivations any more than the usual human wisdom and intuition. The same applies to reading about situations. The cards open the door to my own inner wisdom when it might be blocked by something quite ordinarily human.

I'll admit that I do read ABOUT people sometimes, especially when it comes to particular social situations and what to do when I happen to encounter said situation/person. Do I deliberately "snoop" through others dirty laundry? No. So no, I don't think it's unethical, especially when comes to understanding a particular person/situation better. |

It's probably not ethical but it's for practice. Celebrities, friends, neighbors, it doesn't matter, I'll read for them. I don't get into really personal things though. I like to see how events turn out as "feedback" on how accurate I really was and gain experience. I mean I could do readings here for people but by reading for others who don't know I don't have to type up these long reports.

For practice I prefer fictional characters anyway ! And ideally - TV soaps. You find out how you did in a matter of hours
