I have read in public only once. It was great! A friend of mine interviewed for a job and wanted to see if she would get it. We sat outside of a starbucks. This couple came up and asked about the cards, and the boyfriend asked me to do a general reading on him. It was fine and he liked it, but the weird thing was... We had the exact same birthday! So I don't know if that's a sign for me or what

Most people who notice anything won't even know what you are doing. Contrary to popular belief MOST people have never even HEARD of it in terms of knowing what it all looks like.... just the word - and that word rolled up with the devil.... __________________ ~ ~ I probably shouldn't be here. Honestly, you *might* run into issues but those are going to be rare. Basically so long as you guys are paying customers, as in ordering food and drinks, and you don't make nuisances out of yourselves, you should be fine. *Veteran of many many late night readings in Denny's and IHOPs all over Phoenix and Tucson* |

Panera especially has set itself up to be a place where you can linger a while, and enjoy coffee...hence the fireplaces in many of them and the new big comfy chairs. I have seen people in there for hours using the free wi-fi. Reading tarot to me doesn't seem all that different. And one of the Panera's I frequent actually encouraged my readings. __________________ Out Of Body...Back in 5 Minutes |

I occasionally read the tarot to preoccupy myself between classes, and also to get practice in. This readily attracts the attention of fellow, random classmates, and if their curiosity is piqued, they may bombard me with questions regarding divination, overall. Once I was complimented for my interest in tarot, which is a definite upside. I was hesitant to read in public, at first, since among the extreme polarization of modern-day secularism and religious dogma, the branch of knowledge comprising divination such as tarot and astrology is largely displaced and misunderstood. However, I haven't been met with direct criticism yet, not that I would care either way, at this point! |

Good for you, tarotbear! Although I haven't (yet) read in public, it seems to me that if someone is sitting quietly, minding thier own business, it shouldn't be a problem for others. That is the very definition of rudeness. __________________ Do not follow in the footsteps of the wise men of old, but seek what they sought- Matsuo Basho |

@Tarotbear: BRAVA!! *applauds* Good for you! Rude people like that are so not used to being put in their proper place. Kudos that you did. Perhaps he'll think twice about shooting his mouth off again. Usually when people tell me I'm going to hell for whatever reason, I tell them that I already know, and there's a kegger at my place at 9. They need to be there. They usually look shocked and scurry a bit faster down the street. >XD
